What were the circumstances when Cadyn bunted in the 5th inning of game two against Arkansas?...Bases loaded, one out. He was the two hitter, and made the play on his own without instruction from Casey or anyone else. Was a brilliant play in hindsight. Cadyn was really fast and a great bunter, the third baseman was playing back and giving him the play. Boyd is equally fast and adept with the bunt. I have no idea where the third baseman was playing.

I like seeing the small ball, too, and I think we might see more of it this year than in the past couple of years because of the speed and talent we have. But we haven’t really needed it until Saturday, and late in the game when we got a runner on, the runner made it to second. With one out, I believe. So bunting wasn’t really an option.
Fact is, we ran into a couple of pitchers who shut us down, for whatever reason. The offense was sputtering like a cold engine refusing to start. Give credit to the Eaters for the game, and hopefully the Beavs will learn a little urgency.

Despite being called "Late Nate", I always liked Yeskie. I still do. It was his choice to move on. So be it. The man was a great pitching coach, but that doesn't necessarily equate to a great head coach. How many times have we seen assistant coaches elevated, only to fail? And by the way, he went out to the mound when Casey told him to go. If anyone was late, it was Pat. Did you ever meet him in person? Not exactly likable. There's a reason he's not here and he currently doesn't have any other Head Coaching gig. He is a good pitching coach. Yes, I have met him several times, in person. I had no issues with him. I know for a fact that a lot of players very much liked him. Including Boyd and Moore.

I got ripped on here for suggesting this team has the potential to be all time.
I think we all see it though. The current lineup is formidable, and the pitching staff has emerging talent. If we got Frisch and Pfennings back, could put this team over the top.
That said, I'm just going to enjoy the ride week by week.....cuz who knows? It's baseball after all.
This week will be a tough test on the road in Pullman. Should we win the series? Yes, obviously, but Wazzu's pitching has been very good, and our bats went quiet in that last game against Irvine. Hopefully we come out aggressive and putting pressure on their defense.....Go Beavs!

It's not confirmed, but I think we all thought this was a probability of happening. Eggers just mentioned that rumors are he is being shutdown for TJ. Not officially confirmed, but yeah it's kinda unofficially confirmed.

All things considered, OSU baseball has weathered some coaching changes rather well IMO. Pat Casey left some huge shoes to fill, the program he nurtured and his record at OSU is legendary. Pat Bailey got off to a solid start in 2019 but experienced a bit of a tailspin at the end and didn't finish the season on a high note. The transitional year to Mith Canham and his staff in 2020 never really got off the ground, having been skuttled by the Covid 19 pandemic after only 14 games. Last year in 2021, the team scrapped its way to a very respectable 37 wins and reached the Ft. Worth Regional final. 2022 is off to a fast start in spite of some injury adversity. This is a very good team, and holds high promise for the season. Coach Canham and his young Beaver-bred coaching staff have done an excellent job preparing and leading this team into this season's quest to achieve some lofty goals. Want not! We have a talented team that is in good hands. Cant help but wonder what this team would have looked like with Yeskie. Probably have more than 1 guy out with arm issues...

As mentioned earlier, guys throw harder now. When you can take any pitcher, and through meticulous optimization of their mechanics, have them throwing 10 mph harder than they ever would have been able to, elbows are going to fail. What made Feller and Gibson and JR Richard and Nolan Ryan son special was they could do it, do it for 9 innings and do it for years. It used to be special to throw that hard, and truly rare to do so without ruining your elbow. Now throwing hard isn't special, but doing so without needing a TJ surgery or two is.

Pfennigs is a back issue, but, yes we probably do. I think Mundt is the other. I was just hinting that I do not think Yeskie would be doing as good as a job as Canham is doing right now.
