"Oregon State is coming off an insane offensive weekend"

Brief summary on what we witnessed in Surprise.
The Beavers put 98 runners on base in those 4 games. They had 57 hits, 30 walks, 8 hit batsmen, and reached base on 3 errors. An incredible number . . . .98!
The Beavs were 57-144 at the plate for a .396 team batting average.
In 185 plate appearances, they struck out 17 times. That is one K every 10.8 plate appearances. Comparatively in 2021, OSU hitters struck out 512 times or one K every 4.57 plate appearances
The Beavers have exceptional speed in the lineup. They were a perfect 9 for 9 in stolen base attempts and Boyd swiped 3B. Some big leads prevented more SB attempts.
In Surprise, OSU's BB:K Ratio was 2.24:1 Most college teams have a negative ratio - more K's than BB/ HBP. The PAC-12 team statistics for the 2021 season show a 1:2.21 metric for the 11 schools combined.
The Beavers showed off some impressive gap power. They had 10 doubles, 4 triples and 1 home run. Triples are rare occurrences, OSU will hit some triples this season that are really doubles extended by speed and aggressive base running.
Analytically, the slash line is the base indicator of measurement for offensive production. BA / OB% / SLG % and OPS. In the Sanderson Ford tourney, the Beaver slash line was .396/ .519/ .542 with OPS of 1,061. That is off the charts for a team line! In 2021, OSU was .280/ .375/ .422 with 797 OPS. Good enough to win 37 games.
This is one 4 game set. A small sample size compiled against the West Coast Conference champion in 4 of the last 5 years, Gonzaga Bulldogs - a good team and WCC favorite in 2022, and the rebuilding Mountain West Conference's New Mexico Lobos under a new coach. Next weekend a 3 game series against Xavier U. from The Big East Conference that at first glance, could be against a team with some similarities to the Zags.
This was a great start for Coach Mitch and his Beavers - it would be very difficult if not impossible to sustain those numbers, but no matter, OSU has established several markers. As a team, they are very fast, they can rake throughout the order, and they are opportunists. If they are allowed to start an inning with a BB or error, or get 2 runners on with less than 2 outs, you are open to a big inning. In Surprise they had six big innings of 3 to 11 runs. It is an explosive batting order.
An aggressive mindset, middle of the field approach with plate discipline like they put on display in Surprise will wear the best of starting pitchers down. I saw pressure applied in every facet of their offense – a relentless attack at bat and on the bases, that ultimately takes it toll.
