What I saw Texas do with Iowa st. As good a record as iowa st. has and Texas even has more losses, but appears like us that Iowa st. Could be helped if there were more proportionate mix of white versus colored players. Yes Rueck and the Iowa St. coach have both on balance more white women. There now I said it! A couple of you figured it out. But you’d have to watch that game to see why! Now you critics will find something wrong to debunk this. Go right ahead! No need to debunk bunk. "Colored players". LOL, what is this, 1950? Anyhow, thanks for clarifying your initial post, I guess.

This seems to be a topic some folks deny. I brought it up and got a dumbass remark I failed to respond to. I see it and it explains our lack of sped. There is no reason to ignore this and accuse folks I guess of being racist or jimmy the Greek. Blah blah. Just open your eyes. Do not try and defend some of the things other Schools like usc accursed us of. I really want the beat players and people. Race is not my issue. If we struggle there than fix it. Do not deny it . We are what we are. Maybe Scott needs to take care of this. By the way what Iowa does is not relevant to me. What we do is.

This thread should not just be locked, it needs to be deleted. As for the original poster, they need to be on a timeout. Not getting any better.

The easiest thing in the world is to populate a team with players based on appearance. Any head coach on any team in the country could do that without even breaking a sweat. I don’t think Scott considers appearance (the subject of the initial post of this thread) in recruitment. He has won with players from all family backgrounds. This is a total non-issue. To this Beaver fan at least. (My personal list of favorite OSUWBB players includes Alyssa, Breanna, Deven, Kolbie, Gabriella, Madison, Destiny and Taya, right at the top. And as many players as we can find with those skill sets - whatever their outward appearance- the better. For whatever that may be worth)

Wow, for those that have issues with our lack of diversity, way to blame it on Rueck.
Oregon has less than 3% of its population who identified as Black in the US Census, 41st lowest, behind those real diverse states like North Dakota and Alaska. Most people don’t like living where few they live amongst look like them. I too would love to be able to recruit guards like Dawn Stayley. But Oregons’s ugly history with the Black community is not exactly selling the state to this day. And don’t tell me that Football is able to recruit black players - football is so large that it creates a community by itself that makes minorities feel less on an island.
This topic is worthy of l discussing, but probably the wrong board. The implications toward Rueck feel very off to me though.

He won't recruit a player that is shorter than him.

Well, he might have a 1/2 inch on Ane, who probably could help this team.

I don’t believe the demographics change much in that distance.

I don’t believe the demographics change much in that distance. This year that’s true for Oregon, but previous years their roster has had a very similar look to OSU. And players like Hebard and Sabally grew up in places with demographics like Oregon (Alaska, Berlin), so they know what it will feel like prior to arriving. Not sure it makes a lot of difference, but Eugene also has 3x the Black population by percentage compared to Corvallis. Corvallis is just over 1%, low for OR in general - that’s not helping. Where are these women going to find people in Corvallis that know what they are doing with the specific demands of their hair type? Stuff like that adds up and makes it an unattractive place to live.
