Gonzaga should present a challenge for the Beaver batsmen on Saturday and Sunday. They will bring the heat with some high end secondary stuff from a returning pitching staff that won a WCC title in 2021. Gabe Hughes is their ace that has a 4 pitch mix and can run his fastball into the mid 90s. He is also a talented hitter and position player. William Kepner is a side-winder that will touch 98 and Trystan Vrieling reaches 97 with a wicked breaking pitch behind his FB. The projected closer is Brody Jesse who will touch 99 mph. Gonzaga has finished 1st or 2nd in the WCC in the last 5 full seasons and been to 3 Regionals including last year.

Sounds like we might get an early answer on whether the Beavers have fixed the swing and miss problem that plagued them last season.

Sounds like we might get an early answer on whether the Beavers have fixed the swing and miss problem that plagued them last season. I seem to recall that Surprise wasn't that bad to the Beavs. It was when we got back home and in the conference that our hitting woes began. I think it's the weather. We need to spring for a dome.
