That's a fun, challenging bracket for the Beavs. All of those teams should help the NET rating.

So isn’t participating just feeding the Nike beast and tsdtr coffers. Sleeping with the enemy?

So isn’t participating just feeding the Nike beast and tsdtr coffers. Sleeping with the enemy? OSU gets a lot out of Nike (not as much as uo). If you cut them off, we would be in even worse shape resources wise than we are now.

Duke, Iowa and UConn is a good field. Looking forward to it.

Just wanted to get it out of the way at the top of the thread before someone suggests a boycott .

Had to do some research on this - had never heard of it before. Great basketball to look forward to in November.

Leaving the Phil Knight/U of O connection out of it, this is very good for college basketball in general in Oregon, women's college basketball in Oregon, and our program in particular.
Of late, we have participated in some early season tournaments with good fields, but lousy promotion and obscure pay per view providers. The result is nobody in the stands, and almost zero national TV exposure. (The event up in Vancouver, British Columbia a few years ago is an example, or this season's in Daytona.)
With the names behind this event, I'm sure it will be shown on ESPN on one of their channels. Very strong national field means strong viewing interest in many markets and with many recruits. Broadcast announcers will be babbling instead of describing the actual game (as they always do), so will talk incessantly about our 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes, which will help 2023 and 2024 recruiting. The majority of the fans in attendance will be wearing orange, and that's not going to hurt recruiting either.
Plus we get some great early season tests. I think this is great; I'll be one of those in orange in the stands.

This sweetens the pot further for any top PG wanting to transfer to Oregon State… an opportunity to play in that spotlight and play with an outstanding bunch of front-line players and 3pt shooters. With this coming early next year, the concern (like this year) is incorporating those new players (hopefully one of them being that PG). This invitational could end up being a negative if we develop slowly next year.

This invitational could end up being a negative if we develop slowly next year. I don't see it as a negative even if we lose both games. Better for freshmen to be thrown to the wolves in November and learn from it (thus developing) than to play a bunch of cupcakes and then be thrown to the wolves when conference play starts. Same with (hopefully) that top PG who just made the decision to transfer here.
