The bus is warmed up to head for Surprise.
The one question I have is how many pitches our starters will see in the first games? It sounded like Herpje threw six innings in a scrimmage is that standard for this time of year? I'm sure they want to get the relievers some work.

I’m no pitch count expert, but I’m guessing six is the magic number…maybe all year long. Less than six means a pitcher is struggling. More means he’s dealing. Six is a good number to aim for.

I seem to remember Dorman pulling guys early in the season, even if they were dealing. Not sure if it was pitch count or just trying to give innings to guys who haven’t got a bunch of live innings. Maybe a bit of both

Don't know Dorman or his particular philosophy. But, IP has little to do with pitch counts.
Typically OSU under Dorman have been in the 70-90 pitch range. If it happens in 3+ or 6 innings doesn't matter. He's been pretty consistent in the starting pitchers for their first 4,5,6 starts.
Which I'm totally on board with. OSU will need a complete staff for the 30 most important games.
