3 star PG out of Napa, CA. Just received an offer from OSU yesterday. Looks to be his first power 5 offer, but has offers from a couple good mid-majors in Wichita State, New Mexico, and Nevada. Seems to be a guy gaining some late traction, #242 player nationally on 247 and #33 PG in the class. Top 200 player depending on the site you look at. Don't know too much else about him.

He's a dead ringer for GP2.

It would be interesting to look through all of the players WT has signed in his 8 years and see how many of them he beat out other Pac-12 schools for, not counting the coaches' kids. I am sure there are some, but obviously not enough. Eventually if you want to play with the big boys you need to be able to recruit at their level.

But, it is very difficult to determine/verify interest vs actual offers where a team beat out another. I don't think Lucas had an actual Pac12 offer?? But, it really doesn't matter as WT's overall recruiting history here is bad. Or, it's below average and player development is really bad?! Or... combo of each.

With our lack of success over the past 30 years, it is not easy to recruit to Covallis. That is why imo the next coach should be youngish, enthusiastic, who can sell the program and someone who is known as a recruiter and brings in a staff known for recruiting. Of course, it won't be easy to convince a top young coach to come here as this job has been a coach killer for years. But that is what the AD is paid for, to find the right person and convince them to come. Eventually we have to get the coaching hire right.... right?

Unfortunately according to multiple extensions the AD thinks we have the right coach! I'd hope that those extensions could be seen as a positive for when the next hire is made. It could be argued that Tinkle has been the best, and probably worst, coach OSU has had in some time. The fact that he's been given those extensions and a chance to try to build a program could be a good thing. I see it as a sign that maybe OSU isn't the coach killer it had been for many years prior.

Except depending on actual timing/buyout if he us fired, it could affect how much/who OSU is able to attract/hire. I'd rather it be younger, HC experience and success at mid-major, great recruiter for that level, that really has a staff he could bring to develop mid level talent. As OSU is never going to attract 4/5* players. Nor do I think the one-and-done really elite types fit the OSU community/profile. But... it is what it is for the next ___ years.

Looks like the Beavers are in his final 4 along with Wichita St, Nevada and San Fran. Concerning is that OSU is only P5 offer. He’s small (listed at 6-0, 165), so that could be why offer list is lacking. If he chooses the Beavs, hopefully he has the quick and heart to overcome his size. Then again, considering the team’s track record with this kind of recruit/player, not holding my breath.

Looks to be a solid pickup. Given the circumstances, putting together a decent class. Unfortunately, given this past year and now the departures, not sure a decent class will be enough. But welcome aboard Mr Pope.

Seen places calling him a late bloomer, hope that ends up being the case/reason for a short offer list.
At the very least this class has 5 HS recruits in it now. Which is a step in the right direction as far as building a roster.
