They were playing Columbia. Dartmouth has two familiar names on their roster. Cam Krystkowiak (Larry's son) and Brendan Barry. I figured Barry was the grandson of Rick Barry, but he's not. He's the grandson of James Barry who was a Georgetown all-american in 1962 and 1963. In Brendan's bio it says he is a relative of Rick Barry. James Barry and Rick Barry are both from New Jersey but are one week short of nine months age difference so I think that eliminates brothers. Anyway, I was surprised to see the family names on a team that I thought had to connection to those families.

My guess is Rick Barry and James Barry are first cousins. Or maybe Irish twins, as we called them in my region growing up, where there were a lot of people of Irish ancestry.

Rick would have had to have been born at least six weeks earlier for that to even start approaching being probable. Rick Barry's full name is Richard Francis Dennis Barry III. As such, I believe that his father is Richard Francis Dennis Barry. James Barry's dad's name was Richard S. Barry. It is hard to believe that there would be two Richard Barry's in the same family, not impossible, just improbable. James and Rick Barry are referred to as a "cousins" of one another, but I find it hard to believe that they were first cousins, unless Rick's mom's surname was also Barry. That's all of the work that I care to put into it.

"Irish twins" and "Catholic twins" is an offensive way to disparage the Catholic Church and its adherents, especially the Irish, as lacking self-control, unintelligent and, generally, less than human. The Irish and, more generally, the Catholic Church and its adherents have each generally been dumped on by White, Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs) in the English-speaking world for decades.
