I don’t know the details but I gathered it had something to do with his transfer. They stated in one of the recent broadcasts, it might have been Walton, that he had a 4.0 gpa at OSU. Maybe someone else knows more though.

I was thinking it was a UM site or article that basically said UM academic advisor screwed the pooch. It'd have been ok, swept under the rug if he had stayed at UM, but when he transferred the discrepancies showed up to OSU admissions/academics. But?

Seems like progress toward a degree is the problem. Probably need to spend this summer getting the hours he needs to get back on track.

I don't know the ins and outs of it, but apparently the rub often is the NCAA requires "Prior to the Third Year of Enrollment" "40-percent of the designated degree must be completed" and "Credits used must go toward the designated degree". That can probably make for issues even with a good student if there's a change of major, the school has different first and second year course requirements or the new school doesn't accept credits towards a specific degree. Kinda explains some of those JC transfers we've had in football that have taken extra years to get on the field.

Isn't there somebody on the coaching staff or in the athletic department that is supposed to keep track of this during recruitment and after the transfer?

Isn't there somebody on the coaching staff or in the athletic department that is supposed to keep track of this during recruitment and after the transfer? Someone effed up! No way this kid is accepted by OSU during the transfer process without a complete academic review. UM or OSU, someone somewhere sold the kid or staff a bill of goods. I can't find the link but I'm thinking it was on UM's watch. Some bogus courses or credits that were incorrectly applied. Either way the kid suffers.
