Jets' great. One of the top receivers in a league that was loaded with great receivers. Old-school, with the single-bar facemask.
Roddy Tompkins' dad came to practice a lot when he played for us. He could have been Maynard's twin brother. Sideburns, jeans, button-snap shirt, baseball cap, short hair and cowboy boots, with a Victoria, Texas twang. A really nice man.
Roddy was probably as fast as Maynard before his knee injuries. We called him the Texas Tornado or the Texas Twister.

I remember well, he and George Sauer catching passes from Joe Willy Namath, in that inprobable Super Bowl win. Sauer passed in '13, I believe. RIP.
