It's one thing to change the protocols, but if you've had symptoms, I can only imagine what coming back to try and play hard when you've been worn down even a little bit by the illness will be like.

Overall, I think this is even worse than last year. On the tipping point of a completely lost season IMO. Pac 12 season is getting close to too far sunk to save. First 2 weeks just obliterated. It seems these breakouts are pretty widescale among teams. Last season, one or two positives was enough to shut down an entire program for 1-2 weeks. This season, as long as seven players are available teams are playing. If teams are having 6-7+ players testing positive (which seems to be the case), we may see less outbreaks by the end of January. With it changing to only five days of quarantine for asymptomatic individuals, shutdowns may end up being shorter as well. OSU for example has probably had at least six positive tests, which means those six may not even have to be tested the rest of the year. Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but hopefully things will slow down over the next two weeks. My hope is the same as yours. This thing is spreading fast. Seems like everyone I know has it. Hopefully we'll get past this in the next few weeks and be closer to normal by tournament. The new guidelines by the NCAA also should be beneficial. Now the question will be what actions the states take. The Pac-12 has been on top of the world (IMHO) in recent years. Two Pac-12teams played for the championship last season, but I can see how some restrictions from western states, California, Washington, and Oregon could make girls not want to play here. Things such as not allowing fans in stands and certain COVID protocols if they are not in line with the rest of the county.

As far as I’m concerned if they are going to cancel some teams they need to cancel all teams, per week! It’s not fair otherwise. To much is at stake for consistency sake. It will allow some teams to progress while others not to.
How can we have zero covid during preseason then now when it really matters OSU GIRLS all the sudden have forgotten to not keep themselves safe? All teams must be treated equally so there can be no foul play! I guess ick sickens me to see shortened seasons. This Is really sad.

Not only is this version very communicable but can be contracted multiple times even if the person has had their booster. Hopefully it will run it's course before it mutates again.

It is not going away. Going to be a part of our lives forever.
