Someone said even a loss to Stanford helps in the Massey rating than not playing at all. Is this true? There is not another power 5 in the nation that has not played since mid December. It will be pre season form all over again

This sucks but there are a TON of schools in the same boat. Even UCONN I think has been shut down for a while.

OSU's last game was December 19. UCLA's was December 11, Arizona's was December 17, Colorado's was December 20, USC's was December 18, Washington's was December 20 and Utah's was December 21.

Overall, I think this is even worse than last year. On the tipping point of a completely lost season IMO. Pac 12 season is getting close to too far sunk to save. First 2 weeks just obliterated.

It seems these breakouts are pretty widescale among teams. Last season, one or two positives was enough to shut down an entire program for 1-2 weeks. This season, as long as seven players are available teams are playing. If teams are having 6-7+ players testing positive (which seems to be the case), we may see less outbreaks by the end of January. With it changing to only five days of quarantine for asymptomatic individuals, shutdowns may end up being shorter as well. OSU for example has probably had at least six positive tests, which means those six may not even have to be tested the rest of the year. Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but hopefully things will slow down over the next two weeks.

Not necessarily related to Cal and Stanford games, but kind of related to the commentary.
If the NCAA doesn’t give another free covid year, which I assume they won’t, I would not be surprised to see some players consider redshirting. I don’t know the rules on number of games, so maybe we are past that point, but if not then it’s probably a good option for some. Better than a shortened, uncertain season.

Nah, They will just transfer to conferences that remain open.

Only grad transfers will be able to play next year unless there is extenuating circumstances. Not sure they consider covid one. No way will they allow transfers in the middle of the year. Which conferences are remaining open?
