As of 3pm Friday
Dec 31 - Only 1 of 6 conference games is still happening, other 5 postponed. Jan 2 - Same 1 of 6 happening, Oregon was able to add a non-conference with Carroll College
Nuts. As many have commented on another thread - just how they think these will get rescheduled is a bit of a stretch. Add Tuesday games?
Go BEAVS.

Going to be another messed up season. If they start playing 3 or maybe 4 games a week and the injury rate will go sky high. My guess is that these games are long gone.

What leads you to believe injuries will necessarily follow?? Players can get injured in practice or in longboarding across campus. They are well trained athletes and more games doesn't automatically mean injury increases. More likely more game in a week means a Covid protocol (even shortened) means a player misses more games. Weird assumption since many top tier players played 3-4 games a weekend in the AAU circuit. More games means less practice and prep, but overall court time will not be significantly more. And, teams with talented depth should love 3 games a week... unless the travel is scheduled poorly! I think missed class time/academic issues will be a huge factor in adding games per week.

Preparing and playing extra games each week would take a lot of time and practice. No problem for a week or two but I'd be concerned about fatigue. A fatigued player could be more likely to be injured. I have no hard numbers just my fuzzy logic.
And as you said, academics could very easily be an issue.
I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see missed games being made up. It would be nice if this week was the oddity and we will be able play the rest of the schedule.

Washington St. hammered Cal in the only game that happened today, but Bears were missing #1, 4 and 5 scorers.

Washington State beat Cal 69-42 and received a beat down by Stanford 82-44. And with that, they are now in second place in conference standings.
Let's hope this weekend's games all happen. GO BEAVS.

Stanford was missing 5 players, including Brink. Didn't seem to matter even slightly. They were ahead comfortably anyway, but outscored the Cougs 24-3 in Q4.

VanDerveer said five players were out for COVID-19 protocols.
"Hoping we'll get people back next week," the Hall of Fame coach said. "This is the world we live in. I'm really excited that we had a lot of different people ready to play today."

VanDerVeer, Hall of Fame coach, meant to say: "I'm glad we have a bench full of McDonald All-Americans who could start at every other school in the Pac 12, and on some of those teams they would lead the team in scoring."
Stanford has so much talent this year that if their team was divided into 2 teams, one of them would finish 1st or 2nd in the Pac, and the other would finish 3rd or 4th....
VanDerVeer is a superb coach - no one really doubts that. But she has a bus load of talent that makes coaching a LOT easier.... GO BEAVS!!

No doubt Stanford is loaded. I think Iriafen and Demetre are both going to be very good down the road. They've had their moments so far but haven't been playing a ton of minutes.
It's not exactly anything new. I remember year after year watching the Card play when they came to Seattle, their 3rd or 4th post player in their rotation was almost always better than anyone UW had in the front court on their whole roster.

Lots of "rated" talent 7, 8, 9, 10 deep doesn't always make it "easier". All those 4/5* types not only expect to play, start, but star. And, not all 4/5* players are created equal. Many aren't ready for the jump to top tier D1 competition/play. So, Furd's roster doesn't make TV's necessarily any easier than SR's. Both recruit the best talent possible and still have to mold them to their respective systems while dealing with varied personalities. There's nothing easy about coaching at that or most levels.

I agree, you see it all the time in every sport. The best team, best athlete, never wins every time. Would be quite boring if that was the case… give me a big upset and very tightly played contests - and I am all in. It’s exciting to see the back and forth and the unbelievable skill it takes to knock off a big time player or program ! The best bowl game so far ? I have one game that I locked onto ! Guess ? But, I bet it was your favorite as well !

By definition, doesn’t 5 star literally mean ready to play at the DI level? Absolutely not. 5* and the opinions that give those ratings rarely see players in person. And, tape is usually highlights. That said, ratings are more a "comparison" to other talented high school players... past and present. High school and n accolades earned vs that level of competition in no way guarantees D1 readiness. Plenty of 4/5* players of both sexes don't make it at the D1 level. Most have plenty of talent, just not the discipline or work ethic to be a D1 student athlete.
