Seems like a quick hook.
I haven't read any contributing non-baseball circumstances that would make me expect a guy who played in 219 of a possible 222 games over the last 2 seasons, and just notched career highs in HR and RBI to hang up the cleats.
He did have a career low BA last year.
Maybe he figures $100+ million in career earnings is enough to retire at 34, but it seems a bit strange to me.
