D1 article say he should be ready to go by January after labrum surgery.

from the D-1 article: "One bat that is certain to be in there is Garret Forrester....He is likely to play first base in 2022... Jacob Melton established himself as a top of the Pac-12 talent in 2021. .... (his) season ended after just 25 starts due to labrum surgery, but he should be ready to go in January. He is athletic enough to play center field as well as first base or a corner outfield spot."
Other than the lack of info of how they (D1) thinks the OF / 1B situation will play out, it's of interest to take look at the 2021 season when BOTH Forrester and Melton played. Beavs were GOOD! During that stretch (2/20 > 4/24) OSU was 26-10, including 10-5 in Conference (despite the painful sweep 40 miles to the south, when Melton/Forrester combined for 2 for 24.)
2022 brings pre-season kudos to the starting pitching staff, but typical questions about the hitting. If both Forrester and Melton are healthy and repeat what they've shown they're capable of, and if even one or two more players show up better than decent at the plate, it should be a successful season.

Forrester and Melton should benefit from Meckler being a tough out at the top of the order and if Bazzaro is half of the hitter was last summer, that could really help the top of the batting order in causing damage. .

The Bazzana factor could well be the wild card. That alone brings an extra special buzz to Surprise at noon 2/18.

Melton was a partial participant in fall practice. He could bunt, but not take full swings or throw hard. But he was out there.

What I am most looking forward to is a lineup that can hit, run and score in crooked numbers ! Go Beavers !

What I'm most anticipating is some Arizona sunshine in Surprise Stadium.
