Anybody have any info on what they are doing for stadium lights? I assume some sort of temporary light towers on the west side? Looks like a permanent tower is erected in the NW corner. Probably temp lights on the main structure however. Go Beavs!!

Man I wish they’d get the damned scoreboard done and operational already. They’re moving so ridiculously slow on it.
They took down the old scoreboard panels/banners/etc in less than a week!
just goes to show ya they shoulda done this scoreboard project months ago instead of crunch time before the season opening home game.

If it's like anything else, getting the actual Daktronics folks on site is an ordeal itself so they've probably got a very specific schedule.

To me it makes perfect sense that taking down the old scoreboard is a faster process than putting in the new, larger scoreboard. Also, not sure why you want it done NOW?

Well for one it’s Litterally almost football season which is just right behind the corner and coming up very fast! Two, when they complete the scoreboard they’ll haft to rush the setup, graphics and everything else at last minute on the new giant LED scoreboard before opening game of the football season. Which I find to be in very poor planning. Lastly I strongly feel this scoreboard project shoulda been done three or four months ago so they would have time to root through on what graphics and displays looks good on the video board and get public input before displaying it during the 1st game of the season.

Have you ever installed a video board this large? I’m assuming the people that have done it before know how much time they’ll need to be done by the first game. I’m also curious why you think the public would have any idea what needs to be adjusted graphically.

I am trying, really trying, to remember when they had a video board board built in any campus venue with a few months lead time to allow public input before the 1st game of the season...any of them. That's not how they roll these things out. Heck, I remember the first game for the board they just took down...and the second game. Took 'em till the 2nd half of the 2nd game to finally tweak the colors so Beaver orange didn't look like cardinal coloring... Meanwhile, it is worth noting to all the armchair engineers and project managers out there: the supply chain issues on Daktronix products have made it a difficult process to stay on schedule. Plus, I heard from a relatively reliable source that there is a still a concern about having electrical ready when the last panel is in place anyway... Coulda shoulda woulda started sooner? Sure. Of course!! Obviously!!! We all know how it should be done...but that's easy when you aren't the one on the field actually doing it. Look at al they are doing, and all they have done. If the lack of the board for a game this year makes or breaks your fan experience...well...

I think we can safely assume that the advertising revenues that would have to be given back, should the board not be operational on day one, make the clients (OSU Athletics and the OSU campus projects group) highly motivated to see that it is completed and generating revenue (which after all is its primary function) on day one. More motivated than any of us sidewalk superintendents on this board - god bless us all. They have 2 weeks to wrap up the project. That's a lot of time to get a video screen hooked up and operational. But if you want to grind your teeth over it, I won't try to tell you not to. If they aren't up and running for the BSU game, you'll enjoy the gratifying satisfaction of having been right. So, there's that.

The video board has literally scheduled to finish yesterday. www.google.com/amp/s/pac-12.com/article/2022/08/09/completing-reser-construction-progress-update%3fampNot sure if "wiring and data installation concurrently" means concurrently with the build or concurrently with each other between the finish of the build and the game. Guess I'll have to wander down there today and have a look-see to see if it appears all in place. EDIT: Just drove down there and from the backside I appears not much has changed from photos a couple weeks back I've seen. There is a crew working on it at 9:25 on a Sunday morning.

Public input? I'm assuming they are putting up panels that aren't static and the replays and graphics will be using the full board unlike the current board. Once the panels are up and wired in,I'm assuming it shouldn't take long to adjust the colors and graphics that look good for the new board. Why would it take long for them to get the bugs worked of an upgraded board?

From my experience with Hoffman, they're usually on top of things so I imagine there is still a plan to have it ready for gameday. Time will tell, but I'm not gonna sweat it.
