Oregonian sports writer and Duck Honk, Andrew Nemic appears to be suffering some form of clinical delusion in attempting to explain the massive exodus of Duck commits following the sudden departure of Coach Mario Cristobol for Miami. The always amusing Nemic reached the pinnacle of rationalization today with his column on former UO pledge Andre Dollar, a promising TE from Oklahoma who decommitted, then flipped to WSU.
Nemic proceeded to write: “This one, however, may stem from new coach Dan Lanning evaluating the needs of the program and prioritizing his scholarship resources differently than departed coach Mario Cristobal. When a new coach is hired, he frequently reevaluates the current recruiting class to pick and choose the “right players” for his system. A perfect example of that transition has come over the past few weeks at USC, where the Trojans have suddenly experienced a flurry of decommitments from some of their lower-rated pledges. Oregon is loaded with young talent at the tight end position, so Dollar’s departure may be best of all involved, as he likely has a clearer path to playing time in Pullman.
Nemic then pointed out that Dollar had dropped from 10th to 29th in the national TE rankings suggesting that Coaches base their player evaluations on some recruiting website’s ranking, and then followed that with the ridiculous suggestion that this could be good for Dollar in terms of getting more playing time at Wazoo.
Old time Beavers will recognize this tired and lame line of rationalization from the Belloti era when a Duck recruit flew the nest – “We didn’t want him anyway”.
Believe it or not: Oregon has more decommits in the 2022 class than some schools have commits.
DECOMMITTED: Washington 4-Star defensive tackle David Iuli
Texas 4-Star linebacker Landon Hullaby
Texas 5-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks (flipped to Texas)
Texas 4-star offensive lineman Cameron Williams,
Alabama 4-star linebacker T.J. Dudley
Oregon 4-star edge-rusher Emar’rion Winston.
San Diego 4-Star defensive back Jah'lil Florence
Oklahoma 3-Star tight end Andre Dollar (flipped to WSU)
Arkansas 4-Star wide receiver Isaiah Sategna
Texas 4-Star wide receiver Nicholas Anderson
California 4-Star running back Jayden Ott
Mississippi 3-Star JuCo offensive lineman Percy Lewis
WON'T SIGN:
San Diego 4-Star Athlete Jalil Tucker
Texas 3-Star wide receiver Stephon Johnson

Imagine having a recruiting class where 12 4 stars could decommit if your coach got poached for winning. But let's keep throwing those stones.
We just had our first winning season in 7 years. Maybe we should care about things that matter to US, instead of these pathetic attempts to make ourselves feel better. How many inches of coverage is the local fish wrap doing on the bowl games?

I hear ya but this (The Rotating Tap) is the board specifically for "Sports Topics Not Related to OSU". So if you want to read only about OSU sports what are you doin' here?

Excuse me for butting in and I hope I'm not too far out of line here, but I have to say: As much as some Beaver fans seem to care excessively about the ducks, you seem to care excessively about Beaver fans caring about the ducks. The thing is, I understand why some Beaver fans care excessively about the ducks. I can just google it and it is clear: Definition of Sport Rivalry A fluctuating adversarial relationship existing between two teams, players, or groups of fans, gaining significance through on-field competition, on-field or off-field incidences, proximity, demographic makeup, and/or historical occurrence(s).What I can't quite figure out is why it bothers you so much. I get that we don't want Beaver fans looking like idiots and doing things that reflect badly on Beaver Nation, like vandalizing a rival's football field (like some duck fans did) or stealing a prop from a nationally televised sports pre-game show during a rivalry game (like a duck fan did), but why care if a BEAVER fan on a BEAVER message board posts to other BEAVER fans that he thinks the duck program or fans are over-hyped, overrated, delusional, immoral, stupid, ugly, or stinky? What the Beavers have done or are doing as a team has nothing to do with any Beaver fan's dislike and disdain for their main SPORT RIVAL. It is constant and unvarying. I think most people get that.

It's embarrassing, and defines little brother syndrome. We rant and rave and rail against it and then act exactly like they say we are, people who care more about them losing than us winning. Oregon fans don't give a f%#* about who we just hired, but we have thread after thread after thread about them.

You care a lot about Oregon. Not as much as Duck fans like yourself, however.

You care a lot about Oregon. Some years back there were reports written about how the ducks implemented a program and hired staff to spend all day/night scouring the internet looking for ways to interject, "influence" and build their image one post, tweet, or comment at a time. My question to you is, are you paid employee of said program, or are you doing this much needed, very important work for free?

You care a lot about Oregon. Many of us live here and do care a lot about our home state, as well as its greatest university, located in Corvallis. Even Oregon's great agricultural industries in hops, beer and wine - all great topics for this "rotating tap" board!

You missed the point, which is the unbridled bias of the writer in his reporting. He doesn't veil his disrespect for Beaver athletics - he doesn't know the meaning of subtle. Frequent unecessary negative comments, pointed digs and cheap shots.
He has been an absolute zealot all year with this marvelous recruiting class in Eugene. His little desk and lamp at the newspaper is surrounded by hubris and duckie arrogance. So a coach flees the coop and this magnificent recruiting class disintegrates overnight? Not a big deal to Beaverland but watching Nemic explain it all with a mouthful of Crow makes my legs weak and all tingley.

Has anyone noticed how the latest UO academic promo commercial features a shot of some random boat sitting in the waters of a bay that looks to be in Alaska somewhere, and a couple scientific lab types making some type of engineering "discovery". Last time I checked UO didn't have an Oceanic research program, or an engineering program.
Who's riding who's jock again?
$ucks generate a ton of noise with their athletics which is already a spectacle of the illogical thanks to the meddling of a misguided and filthy rich alum. Hard not talk about it when you are this close to the fire. Ever notice how EVERY SINGLE commercial that feature college mascots ALWAYS has the duck mascot in it somewhere? Bullying the market with an unnatural monetary resource that basically fell in their lap, along with their internet sleuthing, constant run-way costumes in football, and Johnny-come-lately fan base they are basically everything that is wrong with our society today.
Eff em? Of course! But, I don't see any problem with Beav fans talking about the Paris Hiltons around the water cooler.
