First the NCAA tournament quarterfinal, and now the MLS Cup Final. I think they sold more tickets than there were seats in the GA north end. There were people standing in the aisles.

So, you wouldn’t like it if at the end of a football game that was tied, they just flipped a coin to see who won.

That’s what the old NFL overtime rules were like when a field goal would win it on the opening possession. That's quite the exaggeration, as I think under the old NFL OT rules, it was something like 60/40 to the coin toss winner. At least the old NFL rules had them actually playing the game of football. The current rules are a decent compromise, but I didn't find the old rules so bad. What I have ALWAYS disliked is NCAA football OT rules. It's NOT real football starting at the 25. And this year, with the move to 2-point conversion tries in the 3rd OT, it's becoming more similar to just being penalty kicks. Either play the game for real until someone wins, or just end in a tie (I realize the tie isn't really an option in a tournament).

You didn't like the 20-18 nine OT game played this year by Illinois and Penn St.? Yes, it's stupid. I wish they'd switch to the NFL rule. If one team can't score in a 10 minute OT, they deserve to tie.
