Coach Cristobal's departure from Eugene has created a rumble of seismic proportion in the football program. Rampant decommits in their prized recruiting class and transfers may follow.
Advice for coaches: Recruit kids that genuinely want to be at your place.
Advice for Recruits: Coaches come and go. Choose the school, not the coach.
To date, the Quacks have suffered 8 decommits - 7 are 4 and 5-Star prospects. Two more will not sign on NSD. That's 10 and counting.
Two current players have entered the transfer portal, more to likely follow.
There is no glee in watching this disaster unfold as poor Rob Mullens labors through his fourth coaching search at the "House of Cards" known as Oregon football.
GO BEAVS!

Just hope one time that the beavs play & win a Rose Bowl in my life time. Fun to rip on Oregon but the team down the road has accomplished that & I want to see a beav win with the sun going down in Pasadena.

In theory I agree about committing to a school and community you want to be a part of no matter the coach. The reality is, often times players are recruited to fit the current coaches particular style of O or D, to fit in the schemes of the current coaches. They are generally pitched by the coaches exactly what the vision is for their fit in the program.
A new coaching staff can mean an entirely different system, philosophy, and scheme. The players fit may no longer be a good match.

I don't really see what was done wrong.
Cristobal got a great offer to coach at his alma mater for more money and to be closer to his family. That checks every box for him as a win. Nothing wrong there.
uo's philosophy seems to be to swing for the fences in trying to attract a big name coach to take over their athletic programs when a coach leaves. Can't blame them for that; they are convinced that they are in that league.
Unfortunately for uo, those coaches often leave for their "dream" job somewhere else, like uo's last two football coaches. It's fun and ironic as a Beaver fan to watch them look for the next greatest thing while they fail to see what's right in front of their nose: that their best coaching hires in the last 30 years in the major sports came from more humble beginnings.
Altman in men's basketball came from an outstanding career at Creighton but there were probably close to 10 coaches or more that the yucks wanted before they got to him.
The slug-eaters somehow lured Bellotti away from his head coaching job at the football Mecca of Chico State to be OC and he, in turn, as head coach hired Chip Kelly from national power New Hampshire to become uo's OC before taking over the reins from Bellotti.
But swing away, yucks. Maybe you'll get Saban and this'll be your year.

It's always been about relationships. BTW, two of Mullens' hires won Rose Bowls, and the other went 9-4 his lone year. Can we be a house of cards too? Good grief.
