Planting corn in Oregon? I hear tell it's suppose to be knee high by the 1st of July. Mine never gets there. It's more like..."Up to my member by the 1st of September". It's 'knee high by the 4th of July'. For some of us it's "up to my member by the middle of June." Then comes the knee high in July.

You reap what you sew. This is what happens when you run a soulless program based on flash and style and nothing to do with substance. You end up with hired guns looking to move on to the next shiny object. Reminds me of the old Johnny Carson story of asking a women if she would sleep with him for a million dollars and she says yes. then asking would she do it for 5 dollars. When she said what do you think I am he say we have already established what you are now we are just negotiating a price. Can you define substance? Do we have substance? Oregon is 1st or 2nd in wins in the conference in the last 30 years. Please explain what substance means and how other teams have it but they don't? Wouldn't be be nice if we won enough games that our own head coach got interest from big time programs? Or would that be soulless?

Beavs and ucks have both made one bad hire at HC in the last 20 years. That makes neither unethical, or a prostitute. For the Beavs, it was Anderson, for them it was slick Willie. For the most part they have hired from within which is generally looked upon favorably. Their program saw the beginning of a gradual uptick in quality on the field when a guy named Musgrave showed up. The Beavs saw a transformational change immediately when Erickson took over. While the frontrunning arrogance of their fans is a bit much, that's their problem. I remember going to civil war games in the 80's. When we won, there was kind of the feeling that we were still not very good, but they were horrible. I'd prefer to beat a good team in a competitive game over the toilet bowl game. I do think the fair question of the day is, how does a guy out of nowhere become one of the top recruiters in the Country in such a short period of time?

I could’ve only wished we made that kind of bad hire.

Good post, but are we already insinuating improprieties about a guy we didn't know existed 2 days ago? He was the recruiting coordinator at ASU in 2013, at Sam Houston after the Todd Graham squad got fired, and then also at Memphis. I think it's fair to say that he hasn't "come out of nowhere" as a recruiter. Aside from a GA stop under, you know, Nick Saban, he was the recruiting coordinator for 3 straight jobs. Helfrich was oregon's bad hire. Taggart was a scumbag, but he turned them around after 4-8 with the same roster and had a top 15 recruiting class coming in before he slimeballed his way to Tallahassee.
