We are a, FootballMen's BasketballWomen's BasketballSoccer School!! Go Beavs!! Leave it all on the pitch! We're getting there, but the vibe is so weird right now at these games. It's almost dead silence in the crowd after kickoff for the first several minutes, like nobody knows how to react or what to do. The goal got the crowd going tonight and there were a few "let's go Beavers" chants, but it's a lot of nervous energy. I don't know if there are dozens of people that don't come to soccer games that often or what, but I'd like to see the Beaver Dam or some group take ownership of getting the crowd more organized for chants and making it a more festive atmosphere. |

I did not go to the game, but watched it on TV. There simply wasn't much sustained action to keep the crowd engaged. |

I do not know much about soccer specifics, but have noticed college soccer crowds are much different than professional crowds. Sort of the opposite of NFL vs college football... college atmosphere more festive/fun. I think generally 75% of the current playoff crowd for OSU do not attend college soccer regularly??? I'd be in that crowd... and although I enjoy OSU sports I'm the same with gymnastics, and wrestling. Just not time for everything.

rgeorge - it's definitely a different vibe. There's more energy in the crowd at the high school games I've gone to than OSU, but that could be because defenses aren't as good and there's guys flying up and down the field all game. A UNH guy screamed bloody murder on a tackle early on and I think that set the tone for the rest of the game. Guys exaggerating fouls, the ref calling it tight to keep it from getting out of hand....it made for a very choppy viewing experience. You're also 100% right about new fans. I went to games early in the season where there were rows and rows of empty seats. It's become a pretty trendy thing since we beat UW in Seattle - I saw tickets on Stubhub for the UNH game were going for 5-6 times face value at one point earlier in the week. Tickets for the Clemson game already 3-4 times face value.
