Louisville freshman who entered transfer portal and was pretty highly recruited visited over the weekend and has committed per Twitter. Played HS in South Carolina would be a freshman in eligibility.

We are ALL going to have to be easy for ‘surprise’ and disappointment with the new University landscape ! Transfer Portal Decommit’s ( more common ) NIL impact Coaching changes ( more common ) Since these actions are related directly, or indirectly to money - the ‘rich’ will create even more distance in performance and, attracting those athletes that like the ‘bling’. There will be under the table deals and other forms of cheating - until there are some forms of ‘control’ put in place. That certainly will not be the NCAA - so the lawyers ( again ), will be the biggest winners - along with the Top 20 schools !

Not sure how you compete with this. going to get crazier and crazier. www.si.com/college/2021/12/07/texas-offensive-line-nil-deal-nonprofit

You don't have to do the under the table deals anymore. You can just be blatantly open about recruits getting paid.

Theoretically - whenever there is money involved, there are scumbags that will find ways to profit from it. Do these guys/ gals get agents ? What about pulling recruits from one school to another with a sack of money before they even sign their LOI ? What about starting to pay high school kids before they have even graduated ? Hell, some schools are offering schollies to 8th graders ( that will go to the highest bidder ). It will then be paid family travel and game tickets, cars, vacations, second homes ! Remember, this is all going on without any ‘rules’, or ‘Watchdogs’. This is like letting the wolf watch the hen house ! I GUARANTEE this will devolve into a real mess !
Remember the Reggie Bush deal - that will be looked at as a ‘one off’ problem !

The money/benefits Reggie Bush's family received didn't impact his recruitment. He was always going to be a Trojan, it was a lifetime dream, back in an era when playing for SC was the beat-all, end-all for most SoCal players.
Now, it certainly helped him once he got there. But he was always going to be a Trojan.

Agreed - at least with what came out publicly . However, in today's world ( I know it is supposed to be banned ), but suppose Washington State wants to go after Bush for his sophomore year . They merely up the ante , "okay Reggie, we will pay you $20 K a month , instead of the $15 K you are getting and, we will give you a WSU credit card that you can use for 'anything' ( airlines, cars, restaurants , clothing , ad nauseum )
You might think this is 'crazy', however , Texas is going to pay it's offensive linemen $50K apiece and their tight ends , $20 K apiece - all paid for by different, and expanding , alumni groups ! "Charities" - have been invented to make things look like theirs is somemething NOBLE behind these efforts .
Just let your mind wander a bit and you can invent loopholes and distinctly new ways of funneling money to these NOW Professional athletes ! Kinda ruins the whole idea of student - athlete for me .
