With the WCL season just past the half way point, two Beavers are positioned at the top of the BA stats. Andy Atwood is first in the WCL at .368 for the Knights, and George Mendazona is at .367 for the Bend Elks. OPS of .903 & .898 respectively. Mendazona will be a true freshman.

Mendazona has done well. 2B early season. Outfield for a bit. Now shortstop.
Grenier had a terrible early season, but has now lifted his average above the Mendoza line.
Christian Martinek is having his troubles in Alaska. I would really like to see him succeed, but the stat line is amazingly bad.

LOL. I hadn't noticed the name of the guy below Martinek. Oops. Both guys have spent a lot of time away from baseball the last couple of years. It definitely shows.

I think the thing to look at there is not the ERA but the 3.2 IP. He must be on the spot start rotation. Or the middle inning eater in a blowout. Ouch. hope he can get a bit more work if he is able |

What concerns me for Martinek is that all the runs and hits came in 3 starts. Otherwise, 3.2 innings would mean squat. I hate to see the TJ surgeries that don't end well. Martinek really was/is a rare talent, but the trend is not promising.
By the way, Tigard, it is good to see the posts from the PO guys who I know. Hope things are well. I am obviously OJ from PO. The zeroposter name came from my original thinking that Mike would be up and running again, and I would have zero posts. Obviously, the name did not derive from the zero duck logo. FTd.
