No Beaver tonight got more floor time than Emily Codding - - 30 minutes.... Can't be an accident as Coach monitors minutes in these games.... She must be doing something right - but I'm not exactly sure what it is....Any ideas... GO BEAVS!!

She is a solid body, not many guards can push her around, but plays positional defense so she doesn't get burned by quicker guards. She likes to get inside and mix it up, if she doesn't get the rebound her opponent seldom does. That part of her game is like Mik. Offensively I'd sum her up as smooth.

Agreed. Plays physical and smart.

She is always in position on both ends. A calming influence for the younger players and she just makes plays.

Coach Rueck talks about her court awareness. I need to find some film of her before the knee injury I can see she has that factor to be a team leader.

What SR said in one of the interviews was that during the scrimmage, (I think he was talking about the secret game we know nothing about), she was never out of position.

Thanks for the comments about Codding's basketball skills..... Last night in her 31 minutes of floor time Emily shot 1 - 6 from the floor, and scored a total of 4 points; she was 2-4 at the free throw line and she pulled down 6 rebounds.....
Hopefully these numbers will improve.....and maybe her defense offset some of her pretty weak offensive numbers... At any rate, this is no knock on Emily. More of a curiosity item than anything.... GO BEAVS!!

At some point in the last five minutes, as the lead was leaking away, she made an effort on a missed shot where she had to really extend for the offensive rebound and pass the ball, as she was falling to the floor, to an open shooter that buried the shot.
Awesome hustle play during crunch time when our shots were not falling.
Shows up in the box score as an "offensive rebound", when at the time, it was much more than that...

I think Rueck gambled that her production would include points That didn’t happen. Looking at starter production what We needed most against Baptist was defense. Which wasnt very good for 21/2 quarters. Including Emilies. So a couple things I noticed. Tea didn’t play all game and she is probably the fastest defender we have except for AJ. Was Tea sick injured does anybody know why Tea's not playing? Greta’s play deminished Teas? That point guard was there key. The outside shooters watched what side of the court the point guard went and the shooters assignment was to find a place on the perimeter where pt guard could pass it[. Defensively we needed to force there point guard one way or the other.box and one her. Assign our fastest tallest guard on her all nite. Something that would disrupt her flow. I’m glad we won by out shooting them. Third quarter was key. I missed that quarter. How did we stop them? How did we stop them? They went cold?

Our defense was better because of Greta, Taya, and Kennedy starting in 2nd half. However, CB also went cold in Q3. It was a combination. In the end, I think our depth was a factor as we had fresh rebounding bodies that collected 13 O-boards in H2. Our defense against screens at top of the key needs a whole lot of work. I'm just glad we didn't have to face Sabrina and Ruthie last Wed evening.
