World Cup qualifying, the World Cup, the European Championships, etc., have longer overtimes in the event of a tie. Do you LOL at those tournaments too? Guess you don't watch much soccer on that level either. Lighten up old man, I wasn't LOLing at the format. I've played and watched soccer my entire life, I know a little about the game. Oh and last night's game wasn't part of a tournament now was it? Apples to oranges. I admit that I was also confused by the LOL. But I’m more used to old people not knowing how or when to use it.

One thing I will add. Often, when a team scores a goal to go ahead late in the game, it is a dagger to the other team. Goals are so hard to score that being pressed into must score situation with less than 5 minutes of playing time remaining is a real challenge.
The Beavers came up BIG in scoring that late goal.

Hope the Beavs take a hard look at their corner kick D. Both UW goals came off corners. Losing their #2 goal scorer (Molina-Diaz. Broken leg) in their W against the huskies in Seattle was a big hit. It’s great to see how they managed to keep their momentum through the rest of the regular season. This squad is pretty deep. Looking forward to seeing the seeding/bracket on Monday. Set piece defense is a bit tricky for the Beavs as they are pretty undersized. Hard to win balls in the air when most teams have several guys over 6' and we've got a bunch of 5'8 dudes out there. It's definitely the Achilles Heel of this team. I'd also disagree that they are a deep team. They probably have as much or more talent top to bottom in our starting lineup as anyone, but never sub unless there's an absolute necessity. Washington was running guys in and out all second half, and OSU only subbed for cramps and bloody noses. It definitely showed in that second overtime, as the Beavs were just barely hanging on, picking up yellow cards left and right for wasting time and/or just grabbing guys to keep them from blowing by. Gritty performance, amazed at the effort of some of the guys, particularly Tsiki Nstabeleng, who seemed to be all over the field and probably defended from his forward position more than I've ever seen him. Djeffal is so good at distributing from the middle, like a point guard in basketball he makes the entire offense go, and our back line is just so solid and almost never makes a mistake or gets beat. A really fun team to watch, can't wait to get back to Lorenz for a tourney game! Definitely agree about the back line play. Very solid. Was worried when Lund went down and was pounding the ground like it was something serious. After finally getting up and limping around a bit he played effectively for the rest of RT and OT.

I have a question for those who know about Pac12 soccer. I see the Beavs have a ton of international kids. Is that purely by design? Are we unable to get the D1 American kids? I know nothing about college soccer recruiting Judging by the current roster and the freshman class, it does appear that success is letting us recruit more top domestic talent (though still have some young internationals too).

Apparently international players fill rosters throughout the country. This year the BEAVS had 16 international players, Virginia where Coach Boss was an assistant they have 14, and with teams we played had 11, 10, 9, 8, 6, 5, 3, and 1 which was Cal the last place team. Seems recruiting overseas is a way to success.
