I totally agree with your thoughts on Taylor grad1973 and lotrader, and I posted on this a couple of times last year.....She has no instinctive individual post-player moves for when she gets the ball thrown into her with her back to the basket. I had really hoped this would be a focus for her during the off-season to work on and develop these moves but no such luck.....it was the same thing as all last year--get the ball--think for a couple of seconds about what to do--then a couple of awkward high dribbles to the middle-(which will get batted away or stolen by most competant defenses)--and by then of course the defense has had plenty of time to collapse on her and the result usually is an awkward forced up shot!....Post-player moves need to be quick and purposeful to beat the defense...no thinking just quick fake one way then turn the other way-maybe one quick low dribble if going to the middle then step-back short jumper or if defense already there fake shot & step-around the defender. One of the coaches needs to drill her on these moves daily in practice so that they become 2nd nature to her so that she can do them without thinking when she gets the ball passed into her with her back to the basket in the heat of the battle!.....I truly think if she were able to develop this back to the basket aspect of her game that she could be an All-American Post Player because the rest of her game is solid.

My thoughts on the video. Showed Taylor still trying to figure out how to pivot her feet and use a drop step to the basket when her back is facing the basket. She doesn’t look like a natural post unless facing the rim. There has been plenty of time to work with her on drop step either side of the basket with a man behind her. I’m kinda surprised by this coaching issue. These are fundamentals for posts underneath a basket. Feel where the man is drop that way hook your elbow as you pivot use left or right hand. Tea is an interesting skill set. I watched her to see her strengths and weaknesses. She has God given speed quick and likes to attack the basket. Good arsenal. Not nessisarily a look to pass first Guard. Didn’t shoot at all outside not sure why. She will help bringing the ball up. Solid defense. Needs more time on the court to learn our system. Smart and confident good addition Solid observation on Taylor. She doesn't seem to process quickly where her defender is when she has her back to the basket. She definitely needs to go to her left more often when it is available. Defenders always play Taylor to pivot to her right hand. I also like our new transfers, they will help us a lot this year with depth and experience. RE: "new transfers". Codding and Adams both have the potential to add plenty. Players that the team 'lost' from last year, that coulda/shoulda been on the team this year: Goforth, Samuel, Simmons (I'm not including Aleah Goodman because she had WNBA draft eligibility, and used it). Take away those three and plug in TRANSFERS Codding & Adams, FRESHMEN Marotte & Kampschroeder + returnee Brown + a re-vamped (?) Mannen + more experienced Talia - and ...whoa! Based on 1-game sample I'd put Marotte well-ahead of Samuel and maybe ahead of Goforth as well. AJ plays with a level of confidence and athletic self-awareness that outshines both those players (caveat: one game sample).

I can understand Jazz leaving as well, she had a chance to play professional football back home.
Based on one game I see AJ being ahead of Samuel. I actually see her being very similar to Jazz athletically but better in basketball.

Thanks for saying that, exactly what I was thinking, I was missing Jaz because her abilities like streaking down the court and getting off the ground fast and high. A.J. has most of that with a ton of confidence that Jaz never seemed to get. Same comparison to Samuel like you said, I will wait to see if she can close out on a shooter and block shots on the perimeter like Samuel did a couple times, I'm guessing yes, she can. If she's no good at Rugby, I'll be fine with that.

yeah, still sidetracked on Jas, but this was nice to see...if you right click and save it, then zoom in, you can almost read the article. It is behind a paywall or I would do better.

Straining my eyes I can see that she has nothing but nice things to say about OSU. Wish her the best in her football career. Her mom was a professional basketball player and her dad a professional football player. She followed both.
