Of course, good to see. But with all due respect, is there anything more meaningless than preseason all-conference teams? Maybe it’s useful in drumming up enthusiasm for the upcoming season, but that’s about it. Wasn’t Kennedy Brown on the preseason all-Pac12 team last year when everyone knew she was out for the season?

Wow, Oregon got four players on the all-conference team! Their coach must be incompetent if they don't win the conference title!! They have all of the best players!

Don't lap the media hype up. Can't believe people go for preseason polls and preseason picks and the like as well as star ratings.

Sorry, I did forget to add the eye-roll emoji to that. My mistake. 😉

Count me impressed that Talia was included considering she truly should be a freshman this season. She must be pretty good.

rmancarl - -My reaction was similar to yours. I was surprised that Talia was voted "First Team" all conference after an impressive, but short, rookie season...I assumed the voters would have more of a "show-me" attitude toward her. I have not seen Talia in person yet, so I take it that she passes the eye ball test by those who choose this team. (Were they chosen by the coaches or the sportswriters.)??
As to whether one should get all psyched up about the All-Star team or not is a personal deal. But, I'll tell you one thing - these are the very best players in our conference until someone proves otherwise. When the end-of-season All-Star team is chosen most of these players will be on that team as well.....To say it means nothing to be selected is pretty shallow. Every player selected is elite and everyone of them will be hard for opposing coaches to handle.... GO BEAVS!!

This is the media picking an all star team. Their memories are good for Brown to almost make the main list, assuming the order means she’s the first one out. There’s not another interior defender on the list I’d prefer other than perhaps Brink, but that’s only if Brink can find a way to keep out of foul trouble this year.

I was not that surprised but only that there were enough on the selection committee that could recognize all the intangibles beyond her stats and more obvious skill set to select her. She seems to actually possess the skill set and intangiblles to make the players around her better. The team will have what it has lacked for the last few years. Actual leadership through actions. This is not a slam on past players, but players are what they are and some qualities and skills are inherent and not developed skills. Many of them had potential but just did not have the right model to mold themselves after. Now that seems to have changed.
