Paul checks in at the number 30 prospect slot onBaseball America's National Top-50 in 2023.
Paul Wilson LHP Lakeridge HS, Lake Oswego, Oregon Ht: 6-3 | Wt: 196 | B-T: R-L
Committed: Oregon State
Wilson is the son of Trevor Wilson, a lefthander who pitched eight seasons in the majors, mostly with the Giants. Paul, committed to Oregon State (where his father pitched), has a compact arm stroke with a slot that ranges anywhere from low to high three-quarters, pitching off a fastball that sat at 86-91 mph and touched 93 mph during his summer 2021 starts. He kicked into another gear at the Area Code Games in San Diego, where he struck out two in a dominant, efficient outing against 2022 hitters. Wilson pitched at 91-95 mph there, throwing fastballs for 11 of his 12 pitches with four swinging strikes. Wilson’s fastball is his best pitch, with more room to fill out and throw harder, with a curveball that was mostly in the upper 60s over the summer and could eventually morph into a slider, though he threw it with more power at the Area Code Gam
Two seasons of high school baseball left to play and he touched 95 mph this summer in the Area Code Games in southern California. Aspirin tablets !

Be sweet to get this kid in orange and black Even though I'm a Giants fan, not the Giants.
Says he's hoping to hit 97 by the time he gets out of high school. I wouldn't be shocked if he passes that mark, he's got a live arm.

Did his father (Trevor) really play at OSU? I'm having a hard time tracking that down.
The Baseball Reference website says that Trevor Wilson went to HS in Oregon City, attended OSU, and was drafted by SF in the June 1985 draft.
But at that time he was only age 19 (in 1985) - and - at age 19, he began his professional baseball career (Everett, NWL).

Never played at OSU... spent one term (Fall '84 I believe) and signed, played in Spring of '85 in low A.
