Season starts in one week and haven't seen a lot of activity here. Anyone planning on attending the first game? Not a lot of home games until December when we get a fairly good slate of games (and only one road game the entire month) with Arizona, A&M, Colorado, and Utah all coming to Gill.
I'm interested to see what the level of fan support (or lack thereof if football is any indication) these guys get this year coming off an elite 8 run and with a couple of bigger games at home in December than we're used to. In theory there shouldn't be a better time to hop on the bandwagon, but the same could be said about football and those guys are playing in a half-empty stadium. The difference between just 5,000 and 7,000 in a small arena like Gill is HUGE for both noise and overall optics. Especially with so many home games early in the season (8 straight at one point and the first 4 of 5 Pac-12 games this year) taking advantage of that part of the schedule is a must if we want to be tourney contenders this year.
Go Beavs! Can't wait for November 9th!

I’ll probably skip the early games. A&M for sure and all the PAC-12 games, the drive doesn’t bother me.

Just over a two hour drive for me, but I'm going to some games this year. Cautiously optimistic at this point as to being a tournament team when the season concludes.

If they win, people will come. Don't expect to ride Elite 8 into full seats if the W's aren't there. Fans are fickle

If they win, people will come. Don't expect to ride Elite 8 into full seats if the W's aren't there. Fans are fickle Most bandwagon types and the media see the E8 as an anomaly and will be it the "prove it to me" mode. Everything fell together late for OSU and I'm not sure this team is much better than 5th-8th in the Pac12. But, last season proved why they actually play the game and why sports bets are far from a sure thing. Attendance will prob be down vs 2019 as is football. Fans will find more excuses to not attend post Covid in many respects. I'll attend most every home contest MBB and WBB, but will not spring for season tix for either as you'll be able to find $10-15 (or less) tix for about every game. It's an hour drive each way for a 90 min contest, but it's a way to get out of the house, grab a beer/drink/appy and enjoy. I truly expect Gill to be half full or less for almost every home game (key opponents or late season very meaningful games excluded), meaning parking close will be easy, and tix readily available for those who make last minute plans. But, since there is TV for every MBB game, and all WBB Pac12 games it's just easier to sit in front of your own TV if a big crowd is expected. On a side note... the reduction of Reser seats should be followed up with the remodel and reduction of seats similar to Maples or Alaska @ Hec Ed. Hoops is not the $$ maker that football supposedly is, but it is long overdue.

Hoops is not the $$ maker that football supposedly is, but it is long overdue. Kind of my expectations as well. IMO there's nothing like going in person as the atmosphere and experience are just so much better when you're there, especially for basketball since at Gill you're right on top of the action in a lot of seats. I also just really enjoy college basketball and would much rather miss a football game than a basketball game.
I'm not sure Gill needs a reduction in capacity as it already is on the small side (~9,300). You also really only need about 6,500-7,000 for it to look and feel full in there. Hopefully the boys get off to a quick start and can attract some good crowds and really build some momentum off that Elite 8 run.

Definitely hope to make a bunch of games - have tickets for A&M and UCLA so far. Drive from PDX for midweek is a little tough, and have Blazer tickets so some overlap - but should be a good product!

2K at the most. More like 1,500. Ouch! Are students on break or do they just not go? I assume the students would be more aware there was a game than the general public, but I wasn't aware there was a game yesterday until maybe an hour after someone posted the game thread here. That's not a lot of promo/lead time. I wasn't looking for it, but I hadn't seen a mention of it on this board, or an the evening news the day prior either. It might take a few games to where some people warm up to the fact that the basketball season has even started.
