For those that followed the saga of Drew Gilbert's recruitment in 2019, I thought a little background and update might be of interest. Gilbert was a solid commit to OSU and Pat Bailey for almost a year. Gilbert was a high strung, bundle of energy that pitched and played the outfield for Minnesota's large school state champion, Stillwater HS. He was Minnesota's "Player of the Year" in 2019, made a high school All American team. He felt so strongly about Oregon State, he worked hard to switch his friend and teammate, Will Frisch from a TCU commitment to the Beavers. OSU for a short while, had the dominant 1-2 pitching punch of Stillwater fully committed. Shortly after OSU made the coaching change from Pat Bailey to Mitch Canham, Gilbert decommitted and flipped to Tennessee. Frisch was solid and stayed with OSU.
Once at Tennessee, Gilbert had some control issues locating his 95 mph fastball and after a few looks on the bump, was sent to the outfield where his superb bat could help a lineup in need of hitting. Gilbert has had two good years at Tennessee - he hit .274/.341/.437 with 10 home runs and 62 RBIs last season, which helped earn him a place on the Collegiate National Team. He’s a good runner with some speed, a steady defender in center field and he packs more punch than you would think based on his slender 5-foot-9 frame. This should be his final year with the Vols if draft projections come true for him.
Frisch? Will has pitched effectively for OSU with a good K:BB ratio and a low ERA - he will be counted on to pitch a lot of innings this year for the Beavs. Will is also "heavy up" on MLB draft lists. Big velo will get you drafted and Will has touched 98 mph a few times.

Thanks Chin … interesting topic and follow up. Never know how these things shake out - position wise or performance projections . Baseball is a tough one to sort out because of the level of difficulty and individual predictability. Surprised both directions The only outlier for me is Adley, he always seems to come through in every situation . Steven Kwan is another guy that has an exceptional eye and bat speed . Both guys seem to thrive on 2 strike hitting.

"Providing Tennessee pitching with protection is center fielder Drew Gilbert. A two-way contributor last season, tossing 8.1 shutout innings and batting .274 with 10 HR and 64 RBIs, Gilbert is also an above average defender in center field. He is sure-handed, gets good reads off the bat and runs precise routes to the ball. With all that stated, 70-grade arm strength is his top tool. At the plate he sets up with an open stance and has very good hand speed. With compact strength, he also has good pop to his pull side. As a 5-foot-10 left-handed hitter, think Kole Calhoun (D-Backs/Angels)."
