Looking at practice pictures something "jumped" out at me. AJ has some serious springs. Her vertical leap is really up there.

Is that Mitravic in the second photo with the 10cm (metric for the Euro) vertical? That's how I played except I'm almost 30cm shorter.

believeinthebeavs....gotta agree with you on AJ's vertical.....(Also, she has a nice left hand shield in the first photo).....
In an earlier video showing an OSU practice (one of those rapid-fire clips where it's hard to make out exactly who's who) there is an image of a player going vertical on a pull up jump shot and when I first saw it I thought to myself: who the hell is that kid? No one from last year's roster. It was AJ.
Rueck seems to be very high on her game, so maybe she will become one of these great surprises our program reels in every once in a while... When other players start to mention her name in their interviews -- that will be one sign that something good is going on. GO BEAVS!!

AJ looks pretty fit in all the pictures I’ve seen. Should be able to run the floor with the best of them.

Yes! I wouldn't get toolocked into a players star ratings in high school or if they had a national reputation. Much of the star ratings depend on the amount of opportunities to be viewed by National scouts. Another factor is if they were overshadowed by a very good high profile player in their area. In AJ's case that would have been Goforth. For example McDonald was not chosen to the McDonald AA nor any other all star team because she was over shadowed by Sabrina who played for a school some 40 miles away. There was an on going argument on Nor Cal preps as to which was the better player and would have the better college career. Mc Donald played for a much lower profile team and had no chance to play in high profile viewing games.
Something else I thought about was if AJ reconsidered her initial choice of Washington once Sasha transfered out? I don't know the actual dates involved, but it seems that being simular players she might have eliminated the Beaves intitially because of Sasha and reconsidered her options once Sasha transfered out.

Sasha was from Arkansas and AJ was from Texas… but yes, there were several other high-profile players in Texas that probably cast a bit of a shadow on her.

She was ranked about the same as Goodman and considerably higher than Kat. Who knows? Just hope she will accept and adapt to her role on this year's team, and be successful at it.

Don’t know either is Sasha’s departure to Ark (announced March 29 this year) was a factor in AJ decommitting from UW to committing to Beavs (April 14th).

I used to enjoy seeing these action shots, a player seemingly breaking the laws of physics, from Destiny , Sasha and others, I think AJ is going to provide us with many to come:
