What's more amazing is that you missed on the "for the first time in nine years" comment. If the Pac12 had that kind of track record, we'd all be railing about how our mid-tier teams deserve the benefit of the doubt.
It's a tournament....things happen. The best teams don't always win. That's why we love sports. You've always got a chance as long as you show up.

Placing a team in the championship series is disconnected from the overall record of the majority of their teams - which I don't claim to know. If UConn wins 90 times in a row in women's basketball does that mean the league deserves the benefit of the doubt? Probably not. UConn may deserve the benefit of the doubt - if there were an injury, etc. Year to year needs to be evaluated separately. They missed this year, big time.

In 2015, those two conferences got 14 teams in, six hosted, only one was a national seed. The conferences combined to go 60-31, place both national championship teams, one of which (Virginia) started as a 3 seed. Pac-12 had six teams in (including national #1 seed UCLA), all six failed to make it to a Super Regional, and the conference finished 10-12, with half of those losses coming to teams with a lower regional seed. Did they miss just as bad last year?

2009 8 3
2010 8 8
2011 7 6
2012 8 5 Arizona wins title
2013 9 4 UCLA wins title
2014 10 5 2015 7 6 Total 66 40 Note that we never had more and only once had as many. SEC averaged 8.25 participants over that span and Pac 12 ave. 5. In the two years when OSU won it. SEC PAC 12 2006 8 4 2007 5 4 and lastly 2016 7 4 with Arizona in the final 4 We got screwed!!!!!!

I fixed your chart a little bit. Also, remember that the SEC had 12 members until 2012...we had 10 until 2011. Now they're up to 14. We only have 11. If you assume the conferences are equal and should get in about half of their conference members, they should get 7 to our 5 on average every year anyways.

Works out to the Pac 12 being slightly disrespected:-)

The only thing obvious to me is that the West might have deserved at least one regional seed and west of the Mississippi might have deserved more than 2 regional hosts. The Pac12 was hurt by 2 marginal teams leading the conference. The weak West sure as hell wasn't as weak as perceived.

Things are screwed up in Omaha too. For the first time in 14 years, no team is going to advance to the Championship Series without a loss. Depth of pitching is going to be a huge issue. Zona's sidearmer threw 137 pitches tonight. A ridiculous number. The winner is going to need to dig deep and come up with their version of Dallas Buck and Gundy.
Go Zona!

I believe it was Coastal Carolina's guy that threw 137 in the complete game win. Great performance!
