With four touted recruits committed to Oregon State's 2025 class and more sure to follow in the next year, it's never too early to began thinking about 2026. Since OSU recruiting starts at home, we can begin the 2026 discussion with Oregon's top prospect.
Kruz Schoolcraft is a left handed pitcher in the 8th grade in Aloha. He's already 6'2 and 150 pounds, high cut with long limbs and athleticism. He's not a secret and has been on the big stage with USA Prime at the WBA championships. Coaches and scouts have taken notice. Kruz is thoroughly "clean" - clean motion and clean delivery from a high 3/4 slot. His fastball is 80-81 mph, and he compliments it with a 1-7 breaking ball with tight spin, and a tumbling change-up at 70 mph. Scouts say he will throw any pitch on any count with advanced command and for strikes. Kruz camps in the strike zone. If he progresses at the normal rate, his heater should be well into the 90's by his Junior or Senior year of HS. The refined nature of a 3 pitch quality mix and the ability to throw all 3 on any count for strikes, is very rare at his age and level. He has a natural feel for pitching.
Way to early for any Mick Abel comparisons, but there is some commonality. Kruz is going to be a tall boy with the ideal pitchers frame. Kruz is ranked by Rawlings-Perfect Game #1 in Oregon for the class of '26 and he's ranked #32 nationally. He will be be heavily recruited.
