Tomorrow, I want to see the Beavs get back their confidence. The loss at WSU was a nut shot. I need to see improvement in the defense and better play calling from the OC. I like our special teams. We have a quality punter and a quality kicker. I think we’ll get the win with a plus turnover margin and strong special teams play. If Tibesar will just be adaptable, the play calling not mysteriously go junior league at odd key moments (like the last drive at WSU), the OL owns the Utah DL as a veteran line should and Nolan is not a headcase in his passing game, OSU has the horses to win by 10. These are easy things for OSU to fix/tweak. Not sure why they are not occurring. Let’s take care of his and win like we should. Growing pains, really. I think it’s actually a good sign, not that I want the Beavs to lose. Glove said earlier in the thread to look at the trend and he sees us as trending down. Look at the past two years and see what has been consistent: the running game and the fight until the last whistle is blown. The program is growing and what has been consistent is very positive. We may not get the W today, but I’m sure that we won’t get blown out either. It will be a close game, unless our offense can find a way to dominate like in some of the early games. Then we’ll blow them out. That’s what the real trend shows. Go Beavs!

Bah, the Coaches have coached, the schemes are the schemes, the plays are the plays, now it is time for the players to make plays! Karlaftis and de Laura made a couple more plays then our players and that was the difference, this game our players need to make more plays then the utes, that’s all there is. Players make plays!

Great matchup all the way around. Two teams that are pretty similar. The Beavs defense matches up better against this offense than a five wide attack like WSU threw at them. Utah does have lots of receivers and TEs who catch the ball, not a single over the top guy though Kuithe at TE is a go to guy. and Covey (in his 12 th season) is like Borghe, they just get him the ball many ways. Tibesar should have a better weekend. The Beav defensive line simply needs to perform better. Weather expected to break about game time- weather shouldn’t be a factor. Utah runs defense very similar to OS’. So the Oline should know the reads. Comes down to physicality and execution. The offensive game is decided up front for the Beavs. Offensively I think the Beavs will look for some shorter, timing throws to get Nolan some completions. Tunnels, slants, easy stop routes, to complement the rushing attack. We have learned Oregon State really isn’t going to throw the ball over the top very often against PAC 12 defenses. When 9er took the job in Corvallis I hoped he designed a team like Whittingham’s. He has, short of a few lineman pieces that just haven’t been recruited yet. Today will be fun, and guess what a loss doesn’t mean the Beavers coaching staff is terrible and a win doesn’t take our lads to the Rose Bowl.

The program is in year 4 of JS. The team has trended well to be able to win any game in conference now. So if you can win those, then do what it takes to win them. It is within their control. What is at stake? The clip at which the program continues to trend upward. Win the close games and you advance a lot things faster downstream. Player development, recruiting, getting to a bowl game, getting the fanbase back up, etc. Big recruiting visit weekend. What’s at stake there if you lose or lose big today in front of them? Win and prove to those guys this is the place to be. Demonstrate why this program is not Cal. “Close but no cigar” is behind us. Moral victories are behind us. Do the little thing we didn’t do at WSU that would have made an L a W and get this done. That is the mark of a team that is getting there vs one that isn’t.

But there is a difference between “getting there” and “already there.” Winning the tight ones is a mark of a team that is there, not one that is still getting there. Last year we lost a lot of the tight ones. This year, we beat the Dawgs in a very tight match and lost to the Cougs at the end. We are definitely “getting there.” We just might not be there yet. We’ll see. I’m actually hoping for a blowout. Time to throw the doubters to the curb.

Keep giving Tibs excuses.
Played 2 or 3 DL almost every play that drive!
Outmanned on each stretch play. No way to cover back out. Add poor tackling, and a PI when DB wasn't beat and ball overthrown by 10 yds.
And, then Lindgren is so creative and runs into overmatched run D twice. Throws deep on obvious passing down.
Yeah... no reason to doubt this staff and game.
