….that is not an elite program with some similar headwinds to OSU and make it competitive, consistent and an occasional conference division contender. PJ Fleck is what I hope JS can grow into.
Thumping Scott Frost right now. LOL

Thumping Scott Frost right now. LOL What? He’s 16-20 in conference. He’s basically had 1 good year there. He did beat Purdue this year, but they also lost to Bowling Green

What Minnesota now is a team any B1G must take seriously when they face them. Not something they did in the past

Fleck has done a solid job at a program that was not much over the years.

Fleck has done a solid job at a program that was not much over the years.
I follow Gopher football pretty closely, having lived in the upper Midwest some time ago. PJ Fleck became Minnesota's head coach in 2017. Minnesota went to bowl games in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. That's 13 bowls in the 18 years before Fleck became head coach, and four bowls in the five years immediately before his arrival.
Glenn Mason and Jerry Kill were good coaches. Kill would probably still be there if not for his health issues. And those guys had to play in the Metrodome, not the nice new on-campus stadium.
Fleck has done a decent job there. I kind of like the guy. But the program was plenty, plenty solid before he arrived. They schedule smartly and are in the easier (by far) Big Ten Division, which certainly helps.
