Baseball America has released their rankings for the National Top-50 preps in next summers MLB Amateur Draft. Including the compensatory picks, 158 players will be drafted in the first 5 rounds of the draft. Most if not all of the top fifty preps will be selected by the beginning of the 6th round. The first 5 rounds of the draft is where the bulk of the team bonus pools are spent. This year, the 2022 draft class has nine players from the 9 western states ranked in the top-50. This is the list in order of ranking.

So what is the likelyhood our top 2 can ignore 1st/2nd round $$$? In your opinion, do they show up in Corvallis?

So many factors involved not to mention a fluid situation with scouting grades.
Your guess is as good as mine at this point.

Correction: A change in the Top-50. Number 46, RHP Jaden Noot from Sierra Canyon HS in Chatsworth, CA, a long time oregon duck commit has flipped to LSU.
He's trading Eugene's Tofu and Kale for Baton Rouge's Gumbo and Crawfish Pie.

I think we can expect to see Johnson out west on a regular basis given his coaching background and connections. He's a California boy, raised in Oroville. He played in Redding at Shasta CC and then at Pt. Loma Nazarine in San Diego. He's coached at Pt. Loma Nazarine, University of San Diego, Nevada-Reno and Arizona. His background is Californi and the western US. This year he has 19 recruits committed to LSU that are known - there will be more on NSD. He won't wholesale recruit the west but I suspect, cherry pick it for elite prospects.
This year's LSU class has 9 of Perfect Game's Top-50 including Crawford, Romero and Noot from the west. In addition, he picked up #56 LHP Robby Snelling from Reno-McQueen HS, #111 LHP Nick Bronzini from San Ramon HS, and #500 OF Michael Paul from Salt Lake City-Olympus HS.
In LSU's 2023 class, IF Austin Roeling from Rancho Cucamonga, CA.-Etiwanda HS (Wade Meckler's alma mater), who is ranked #67.Roeling was a long time commit to Arizona and flipped when Johnson took the LSU job.
In '24, he has 2 of LSU's 4 commits from soCal and in 2025, he has 2 commits including the #12 ranked player from Vista Murrieta H in soCal..
That will give us an idea. Louisiana, Texas and Florida have an abundance of talent and that has usually been LSU's base. I don't expect that to change.
