While she might not replace Onyenwere, Thomas the transfer from Cincinnati might be similar. Only 5-10 but listed as a forward. Onyenwere wasn't much taller. Thomas is averaging 7 reb/game for her career including 7.9 last season, w/ 5 games of 12 or more. I realize the AAC isn't the same thing as the Pac 12, but I think it's fair to say she plays bigger than her actual size. She averaged 18.6 pts/game last year and 13.6 for her career, just a hair under 60% FG during her 3 years. Hardly takes any 3's.
With Onyenwere moving on and Bessoir injured, basically Osborne and Chou are the only 2 returning players with any kind of scoring punch. Thomas, Conti and Penn are all more than capable of being double digit scorers, that's gonna help take a lot of pressure off Osborne to carry the team by herself.

When you listen to SR in this video, it's hard not to believe in this team. I know there is always 'coach speak' but he seems sincere. I hope the team is as good as he makes them sound.

Agreed… it doesn’t seem like the usual “coach-speak”. These ladies are very mature, smart, and talented. Though the overall talent level (“stars”) may not be as elite as the typical top schools, what people don’t give enough credit to OSU for is for the bump the coaching staff gives the team with techniques taught and the character and chemistry of the team that the staff recruits to create. I think that “bump” can yield a national championship at some point even with overall lower average stars. If nothing else, it will continue to keep us in the top 15 in the country.

He should be fired up, he has more talent on his bench than ever. The last couple of years have been hard with transfers and injuries. It's not just the big injuries but a couple players have had nagging injuries that are enough to take them off their game. A healthy and in shape Jelena will be scary to plan for especially with her passing ability. Jovana is another player that was limited by an injury. She played well for wsu and if healthy could fill in in case of foul trouble. Mostly I want to see a healthy Kennedy on the court. She and Taylor have a chance to be the best 4-5 combination in OSU history.
Taya and Ellie are very solid at the 3. We will have to wait and see how the grad transfers play at this level. What a freshman trio, I'm sure there will be some growing pains, but damn they have potential.

Interesting that Michigan, one of our Thanksgiving weekend opponents in Daytona Beach, is their #9; that’s a good opportunity for us to improve our status. I believe a #21 ranking is way too low for the Beavers.

Interesting that West Virginia blurb mentions two transfers, but nothing about Savannah Samuel. I think she's going to turn some heads out there. With my orange-colored glasses, I think we should be up a little higher in their prognostication!

No UCLA and no Arizona. Pac-12 is still nothing to the East coast. Wonder how many championships would have to be decided by the pac-12 before they noticed there was someone other than Stanford out here?

With my orange-colored glasses, I think we should be up a little higher in their prognostication! She hardly played at OSU. Not much reason, other than her high school accolades, to think she’ll be a major factor for WVU. But I certainly wish her the best.

On D as well as on O.

I do think Oregon State probably belongs somewhere between 15 and 25 to start the season. I'm hoping the youth and new players will jell and this team will be much stronger at the end, much as they were last season. I do expect the 'early' Beavs will have a tough time in that Michigan game, but it will be a good test to see how they do early against Michigan and Notre Dame. The writer here loses me quite a bit when they seem uncertain about the ducks backcourt. They give the Beavs credit for having two young highly ranked guards, but ask who the ducks have to go along with Paopao. Do they not know of highly ranked Scheer or Bigby? Have they never watched Endyia Rogers play? I'm not a ducks fan, and I don't know how the guard situation will shake out for the ducks, but from an outsider view, you would think they would question the Beavs backcourt as much as they question the ducks. It would also be hard to leave out both UCLA and Arizona. I'll be surprised if one of them is not a top 25 team.

On D as well as on O. Unfortunately last year was so screwed up that it is hard to compare it to any other year. At least I hope that this season finds a return to some sort of normalcy. I hope Greta gets a better experience as a freshman. And I think that Sasha's stats would have been better playing in front of a crowd both home and away. Of course the beaver in me says that Greta is going to be much better because she wears black and orange!

Many errors with the top five they listed. Looks like it was written months ago.
