Oregon State's excellent 2022 recruiting class just added another valuable piece with a commitment from shortstop Tyce Peterson. Peterson is a fielding machine with a good hitting approach that will blend with infielder teammates, Ely Kennel, Brandon Forrester, and first basemen Jacob Krieg. Here are his vitals:
Tyce Peterson SS Kirkland, WA. - Juanita HS 5-10, 182. Plays Travel Team baseball with the Walla Walla Sweets '21 and has been selected to 5 All Tournament teams in the past 2 years. The Sweets compete on the national level against elite competition. Peterson will become a 4 year starter at Juanita HS next spring. He can run (6.94 sixty), has a strong arm - he closes for Juanita and throws a mid 80s fastball. Flashed an 83 mph exit velo in 2020 and shows emerging power with natural lift in his swing. Defensively, has range and a golden glove. PBR ranks him as the 5th best prospect in Washington and the state's best shortstop. He is now the 17th member of the 2022 class.
He switched his commitment from the Washington Huskies to the Beavers. Smart kid.
