Free beer. What could go wrong? 10-Cent Beer Night at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in 1974. 10-cent beer led to a riot squad being called out to restore order after an Indian forfeit.

PSU needs to find a way to play in the city, not way out in the burbs. Canzano (and others) have advocated them playing at the new stadium at Lincoln High, which apparently has been upgraded and will be used as home field for many PIL games. That's as close to an on-campus field as they will ever have.

They were a big deal and I think had regular crowds at over 20K in Civic Stadium (PGE Park, JeldWin Field, Providence Park). I thought their move to Hillsboro was temporary. Do the soccer heads not want a football team in the stadium?

Ironically, they agreed to let the Beavs host Montana St. there next year.

If you’re familiar with Lincoln HS the new school is being constructed on the site of the old track/field (toward the MAC). The new track/field will be on the site of the old school building (toward downtown)

He questioned why PSU didn't partner with them and build a $10-12K stadium there that they could use. PSU missed the boat on that.

Had to pay that much for my beater pickup.

What's F-ing ridiculous is that Grant HS STILL doesn't have lights at the Grant Bowl due to obstructionist neighbors, after nearly 100 years on the same site.

Lots of wealthy NIMBYs in that neighborhood.

To put in a 6,500 person stadium for what both LHS and PSU collectively require was $65M. Not a cost either institution has or is willing to fund. PSU did not miss out on an opportunity because a realistic opportunity never existed. Canzano twisted the facts in the interview. www.oregonlive.com/sports/2019/09/canzano-portland-state-football-stadium-plan-hits-65-million-portland-public-schools-snag.html

That wasn't the cost, I put a $$$ in there that shouldn't be there. I was referring to capacity of 10,000 to 12,000. Still think you could build a 10,000 capacity stadium for cheaper than $65M.
