Oof. Looks like the Ducks are recruiting some good players. All that Nike merch.

I've noticed that the ducks have higher rankings in upcoming recruiting classes. It's gonna come down to coaching, and player development.....and maybe getting lucky on getting the right kids to forego the draft, and actually come to school.
It's always a constant arms race in college athletics. Having a successful program can be tenuous, and fleeting, especially for a school like ours.
At least for baseball we have the tradition to help with recruiting.....but the flash of Nike U is always going to be hard to compete with......their resources coupled with a good coach, and reality is they could overtake us....I hope Mitch is the right guy to not let that happen.

I just watched Paul Wilson on another Baseball Bat Bros video, and he was cranking them over the fence. He has a lot of raw power. If he has that much pop and is going to be a pitcher, he must be one helluva pitcher.

Paul is OSU's highest ranked recruit in the 2023 class. His lofty rankings of #63 with Perfect Game, #19 with Prep Baseball Report, and #27 by Baseball America, place him squarley on the top tier of 2023 draft boards with the MLB teams. He's 16 and 1/2 years old and touched 95 at this summer's Area Code Games in soCal. Numerous scouting reports on him and here is one of the current group from BA.
Paul Wilson Lakeridge HS LHP Notes: Ht: 6-3 | Wt: 196 | B-T: R-L Committed: Oregon State
"Wilson is the son of Trevor Wilson, a lefthander who pitched eight seasons in the majors, mostly with the Giants. Paul, committed to Oregon State (where his father pitched), has a compact arm stroke with a slot that ranges anywhere from low to high three-quarters, pitching off a fastball that sat at 86-91 mph and touched 93 mph during his summer 2021 starts. He kicked into another gear at the Area Code Games in San Diego, where he struck out two in a dominant, efficient outing against 2022 hitters. Wilson pitched at 91-95 mph there, throwing fastballs for 11 of his 12 pitches with four swinging strikes. Wilson’s fastball is his best pitch, with more room to fill out and throw harder, with a curveball that was mostly in the upper-60s over the summer and could eventually morph into a slider, though he threw it with more power at the Area Code Games."
