"The FIBA U16 Americas Women's Championship will be played in Guanajuato, Mexico between 23 and 29 of August. The eight participating teams were qualified through the Nike Youth Ranking for each subzone and the top four teams will qualify for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2022." The Group Phase games will be played on August 23, 24, and 25 followed by the quarter-finals (27), semi-finals (28), and championship (29) rounds. The United States will compete in Group A against Chile, Mexico, and Argentina. Group B will consist of Puerto Rico, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Canada. Timea Gardiner helped USA to a gold medal at the U16 Americas Championship in 2019, as USA won all of their games in dominating fashion. The USA's twelve-athlete roster for the event can be found here. While there has not been much confirmed OSU-related interest in any of these athletes, 2023s Breya Cunningham, Juju Watkins, and Maggie Mendelson could be a trio to keep an eye on as west coasters, and there seems to be some interest in ultra-talented 2024 Olivia Olson, a 6-1 guard from Minnesota. It also appears that 2024 OSU recruit Delaney Gibb, who was offered by OSU last month, is in the running to compete for Canada. She recently relocated to Utah, but appears to be one of twenty finalists to make Canada's team. Would be very good to get a look at Gibb competing against USA.

These FIBA games are usually well produced, maybe a camera will find Coach Huth in the stands: www.youtube.com/FIBA

Delaney Gibb looked solid in Canada's win over Brazil yesterday. She scored 14 points on 5-8 shooting and added seven rebounds and three steals. She has a strong all around game and some solid quickness.
As expected, the US dismantled Chile by a score of 117-23. Nearly impossible to make any meaningful assumptions in a blowout win like that, though I really do like 2024 Olivia Olson's game. Does a little bit of everything really well and has nice length on the perimeter.
