No Beavers but former Beaver opponents:
Todd Frazier (Rutgers '07) starts at third. Eric Filia (UCLA '16) starts in right. Scott McGough (Oregon '11) has thrown an inning in each of the last three games (and blew the save against Japan). The second-string catcher is none other than Tim Federowicz (North Carolina '08).
Just because I like the play, here is Tim Federowicz missing Bryan Steed's throw in the 2006 College World Series Championship Game:
Team USA plays South Korea in the semifinal tomorrow morning at 3:00 a.m. PT. The loser plays the Dominican Republic in the bronze medal game at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and the winner plays Japan in the gold medal game at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.

So, I just answered my own question about why I don't recognize any of our players on the Olympic team. It is all based purely in the greed of the MLB ownership and flies directly in the face of anything resembling patriotism or anything that this country used to stand for. They won't allow their "stars" to leave for 2 weeks because they might lose a few bucks while they are gone and there's the possibility they might get hurt. And, most of the players want to go play for their country.
Something should be done there. Another case of the will of the majority being shelved because a handful of billionaires can't see beyond their own ridiculous greed. You would think such high-level corporate giants could figure out an insurance policy against any loses they might face while their stars are gone for 2 weeks or if they tweek a hammy.
I suppose it doesn't matter this time around as we have made it to the gold medal game. What happens when we start getting blown off the field in future Olympics because we are leaving our best players at home to appease a few MLB owners?
Bryce Harper might have said it best,
"It is such a travesty to me," Harper said, via ESPN in 2020. "The 2020 Olympics, in Japan. And you're not sending big league guys? Are you kidding me?
"You want to grow the game as much as possible and you're not going to let us play in the Olympics because you don't want to [lose] out on money for a two-week period? OK, that's dumb."

Team USA won 7-2 over South Korea.
Todd Frazier went 1/3 and scored a run to turn a 2-1 ballgame into a 3-1 ballgame.
Eric Filia was 0/4.
Scott McGough came on the seventh and gave up an unearned run on three hits in a third of an inning.
With the win, Team USA will play Team Japan for the Gold Medal.
Team USA has not won the gold medal since the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Team Japan last won an unofficial gold medal in the 1984 Olympics at Dodger Stadium. Team Japan has never won an official Olympic gold medal but won a sliver medal in the 1996 Olympics at the now-demolished Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

Japan shut out USA for gold, 2-0. It was a great game. Great pitching duel. The American pitcher gave up a single home run early, but that was about it until Japan scored late on a poor throw to home.
