Can you say transfer portal ? ALL of these girls want major time and exposure on and off the court ( NLI ). We have see a ‘hint of that’ with our two losses last year - but, except in the case of Stanford, the other schools are all going to have trouble keeping a reliable roster for the coming seasons ! To Scott’s credit , he digs into the athletes real expectations a lot better than others. By that , I think the other coaches ONLY think about star power, while Scott really does a deep dive on who can blend their talents into a team oriented game and can contribute positive minutes at any point of a game . I am anxious to see who takes over Aleah’s role. If things flow properly, I think we could be a Conference and Tourney surprise !

The only thing Scott can control is his own team, and he's in an excellent position. I think we're going to be very good this year, and even better next year. I don't think we can win the conference, because Stanford is just outstanding. But I see us as 3rd at worst, hosting first and second round NCAA tournament games, and having a reasonable shot at an elite eight berth. Oregon? Who cares? Look at the media guide elsewhere on this site, and check Scott's record against them since he became coach.

This team has some talent, but experienced depth with the ability to guard athletic wings and guards is limited. The Pac12 is VERY good. If I were forced to bet, "3rd @ best" would garner my $ over 3rd @ worst. Just my opinion.

Elite eight every year is fair goal to shoot for too. Anything short of third in the conference and you will hear the disappointment. I would like to hear what you expectations are.

Elite eight every year is fair goal to shoot for too. Anything short of third in the conference and you will hear the disappointment. I would like to hear what you expectations are. Expectations are great, but I didn't read it as such. Stated as is indicated to me that it was the worst possible finish. Hence, I'm guessing it's not. My "expectation" is that the Pac12 is a very formidable conference and the unexpected can and will happen. Looking objectively I can see OSU finishing 3rd to 5th. Don't see a top 2 finish unless key injuries occur to upper tier opponents. Which I'd never hope for. If the same happened to OSU, a 5th or 6th place is certainly possible. And, fighting thru adversity to finish anywhere in the top half of this conference wouldn't be a disappointment to me. In athletics, as a fan, expectations are fine. But, as they are based on prognostications not real time action, stating a certain finish is "disappointment" is an oversimplification. And, again my initial reading of the quoted post was OSU would not finish worst than 3rd. And, as stated my $ would bet on at best vs 3rd or better, in this conference. Not a prediction. As for the NCAA, WBB is all about the seeding. Stay in top 16 an Elite 8 appearance is a fairly decent possibility depending on your 5 seed matchup. In the current state of WBB recruiting is still the key. But, the development of talented young women is far more prevalent. More and more underrated (by the so called * system) talent is showing up at more and more schools. If missing an E8 is going to be considered a "disappointment" by some/most(?!), then there are those who will be over the coming seasons.
