Simone Biles (referenced in an earlier post) is putting together a touring group of gymnasts for this fall - but for me I wanna have the triple-double Jade Carey burger at the Angry Beaver For that to happen, you have to first hope that the Angry Beaver is still open in the fall. They have been trying to sell the business. It was pretty rough the last time I went in there.

According to Tanya Chaplin Jade is currently attending classes, she didn’t participate in college this year due to Olympic team demands. Jade is listed on the 2021 team roster. Soo... she was a Beaver when she won gold, it seems! directory.oregonstate.edu/?type=search&cn=carey+jade

So, 'perhaps', in this type of case .... it makes sense to go the college route ( NIL ? ). Plus, no negative on Jade , but it seems like just in the US Gymnastics area.... there are a number of athletes that can dilute the dollar pool for all of them ! I also have zero idea about PRO options , however , it seems that those options flip into a category referred to as entertainment versus sport . Totally different grind and demands , but may provide a longer financial runway . If it were me, I would do the College thing and opt into several one off , one and done product endorsements. Then go for any professional contract that may be available to her. Certainly her call and personal preferences ! I look at Dick Fosbury and recall that he, more or less went the same track - however, he was in his senior year at OSU when he won the gold, participated in a professional track career, then went on to utilize his success in the Engineering field ( he was a great student ), as his Profession - while, at the same time, doing very tasteful and select NIL types of activities up to and including this year . That would be a good reference point for me ! She committed when she was 17, and is now 21. One's viewpoint and perspective changes dramatically in those years, especially if your experiences are like hers. The typical 17 year old athlete might be dreaming of experiencing college, building a name for himself, and then cashing in. Jade has built the name certainly, but hasn't had the college experience. She's also in a sport where the opportunity to cash in is perhaps limited to a very few, and probably revolves almost entirely around the Olympics. So, who knows what she's thinking right now? She may have been thinking all along that, one way or another, gymnastics ends at age 24, and she needs to prepare for the 40 years beyond that - hence her actual enrollment somewhere along the line at Oregon State. I would think it a good bet that such was basically the Carey family plan before she got on the plane to Tokyo. During the time that she was experiencing great success at Tokyo, and even after she won the gold medal, the OSU Athletic Department promoted her as an OSU gymnast. Also, the AP article on her in today's GT made 2 references to her being in the OSU program. I have to think that, if she were not still planning on being in Corvallis soon, 'Jade's people' would have let the 'OSU people' know that such was no longer the case. So, right now, I fully expect her to be competing at Gill this year, and will believe that right up to the moment she surprises me and goes Sasha on us.

I assume it is still the plan and will until something official comes out from either Jade or OSU.
