I walked by the corner of 15th and Washington today and the old maintenance sheds are now totally empty. Eagerly awaiting their destruction and the start of construction on the new fine arts building, which will improve that area of campus considerably. It's been an eyesore for decades. They were also doing some maintenance on the north side of McAlexander Fieldhouse, looked like they were prepping it for painting. What a glorious old building that is, a throwback to an earlier age and still functional after more than 100 years of use. Then I drove past the new maintenance building, out on 35th Street just north of Western. Wow. Pretty impressive. I heard Parking Services moved out there too, into the old OSU Foundation building parallel to Western. Luckily I haven't had to make use of their services, during the pandemic they were pretty lax in parking enforcement. I'm sure that will change come fall. Also eagerly awaiting construction to start at Reser. Watching the east side being built was a lot of fun. We will have one of the nicest, if not the nicest, stadiums in the Pac-12 in 2023. Yes, in some ways I need to get a life.

The old maintenance sheds remind me of a military installation. Love new construction on campus.

Well, still waiting for the webcam to go up so we can watch the progress.... The work on the rest of Washington Way "straightening" project must be commencing soon, since they have a webcam on it. And the Pumice Mine in Bend has sure come a long way (why didn't a buy a house in that neighborhood back in the day? :-)). Go Beavers!

Work is underway, they've already got a big pile of concrete from one building they demolished.

GT story on campus construction. www.gazettetimes.com/news/local/osu-building-update-three-big-projects-will-cost-380-million/article_728a82be-d1fa-5c22-92a9-305e3c5c4b43.html#tracking-source=home-top-storyInteresting that they inflate the cost of the football stadium by including maintenance/interest on the bonds/others expenditures over a 50-year period, but don't make the same apples-to-apples comparisons on the Cordley Hall and Fine Arts Building projects. That's like saying the house I bought in 1990 for $90 K actually cost me $250K because over the next 30 years we had mortgage interest, property taxes, insurance, redid bathrooms, the kitchen, carpet, trim, added a heat pump and paid for two roofs, among other things associated with home ownership. Yes, it did, but that's not what I paid for the house. Also noticed: A big dig for culvert work on the northwest corner of 30th and Washington, and lots of precast cement culverts, etc., on the on the north side of Washington between 30th and 35th, in place for installation. Maybe they're finally gonna move and widen that stretch of road, which has needed upgrading for decades.

All the old maintenance sheds, etc., are now totally demolished and awaiting disposal at the scrapyard or the landfill. It's a much bigger footprint than it looked. Plus now you can see the entire east side of McAlexander Fieldhouse.
They have also removed an old storage trailer on the west side of Fairbanks, opening up that side of that building as well.

Drove by it yesterday and they were crushing buildings. Love to see progress across from our tailgate spot.

And now they have left me wondering what PRAx stands for..... webcam.oregonstate.edu/aecThe title to the web cam has been renamed that, and the description says: "Prominently located at the corner of 15th Street and Washington Way, the Oregon State University PRAx will serve as a highly visible entrance to campus - emphasizing the university’s commitment to the arts and to a culture of creativity." Patricia Reser mumble mumble? (As an aside, I wonder if the current crop of students refer to the Student Experience Center as "secs" or "sex"). Go Beavers!

In an ironic twist they should make it a plain, rectangular box with no windows.
