Billy King will be a 3rd year Bend Elk. He hit a grand slam in final championship game last summer in Bend (about 4th inning) which completely changed the game as it took the Elks from a run or 2 down to the lead...and they never looked back, winning their first ever WCL championship. He is a legend in Bend to many baseball fans.

BUT, fun to respond to as you never know what craziness will be spilled next PS- "legend in Bend" really doesn't help the team we all care about... hence he or any other player translating successes of summer play to OSU's team is the whole point of summer ball in terms of fans. Most here could care less what the Bend Elks do... we'd rather he be a FT starter and major contributor to OSU... better yet a "legend". It wasn't a post dissing him at all. Hope that clears it up for ya?!

King had a pretty good 2016 season as a role player/contributor. For the full season he batted .287 with an OPS of .759. In PAC 12 play he batted .250 (team BA in PAC was .233), and he had the 2nd best OBP in PAC 12 play on the entire roster (.406 - not too shabby). As far as his role as an ambassador for OSU baseball, he's teammates this summer in Bend with two central Oregon incoming OSU Freshman players: George Mendazona and Elliot Willy.

Why don't you ask "most here" who's interpretations are inane and tiresome. i like all OSU athletes to have success wherever their careers take them...whether they are still in school or graduated. I like to hear when there are positives; whether by OSU alums on the Mets or current players on the Elks. As stated, relative to the team this year, King's stats hold up. I encourage ricke71 and all others to bring positive achievements by OSU athletes to the boards of BH. JMHO

"Most here could care less what the Bend Elks do"... we all root for OSU PLAYERS and want their success to translate to their OSU teams. Assist #2... again... initial post was a play on your phrase "legend in Bend"... we (yep guessing ALL us Beaver fans) would all rather his successes at OSU made him stuff of legend. When about half your 70 some posts are of the argumentative nature attacking someone else's opinions/posts you probably go into that mode automatically, without really comprehending/understanding there might be other interpretations to the said post(s). We're here to help! ;>)

This is officially the dumbest disagreement we've ever had on Benny's House.

This is officially the dumbest disagreement we've ever had on Benny's House. LOL... I started by simply making a play or words that who cares what Bend Elks fans think... summer ball means squat unless in translate to Coleman field. I really like "yanking his chain". I'm a terrible fisherman on the river... easier here to "land the big ones". This site is pure entertainment IMHO. Some take it waaaaaaay too seriously. But, that's just me and my sarcastic ways. So, essentially not a disagreement on on my end... but...

I hope his bat gets hot on Thirsty Thursdays... that is always the best time to watch them!

Lots of Beavers on the field at times last year. I watched Mendazona in the first game for the Elks, but have not seen Elliott Willy yet. Looking forward to the arrival of King and Anderson. Too bad the Knight series in Bend was prior to the end of the Beaver school year. There would have been many OSU players on the field later in the season.
