I think Oregon State's 2021 Recruiting Class comes through the MLB Draft unscathed. Although every school in the PAC-12 Conference has some degree of risk every year, this year sees two schools with an enormous amount of risk - UCLA and Arizona. OSU, UO, ASU, UW, and USC all fall into the category of losing 2-3 recruits at most.
The Beavs should have modest concern with Jacob Kmatz, Mason Guerra, and possibly Tyree Reed had he not withdrawn from the draft. D.J. Carpenter, the lefty reliever from Central Arizona CC was drafted out of high school in the 18th round by the Phillies and could possibly be selected again - 97 mph will get you second looks.
Kmatz has a big frame, is a power guy at 92 mph and has good secondary stuff but really needs the benefit of college coaching and competition. BA has him projecting in the 4th round but others have him in the 8th-9th range. Mason Guerra has excellent speed, a big arm at 3B but has some question marks yet to be answered. Mason is a 5th round projection with BA. We could lose both players but I doubt their money demands will be met. By the time you may have to pay an agent, tax attorney / CPA, some expenses and state and federal tax, $400k doesn't go all that far.
In another post. we can take a look at UCLA's class and why Jon Savage will again sweat bullets during the draft.
