OK, what am I missing?
We literally have 14 guys expecting to play in the rotation next season
- Lucas - Hunt - Calloo - Alistishe - Silva - Isiah Johnson - Adela
Then the new guys....transfers & Freshman - Malone-Key (From Farleigh-Dickison) - Akanno (From Marquette) - Williams (From Minnesota) - Davis (J.C.) - Taylor (incoming frosh) - Rand (From Memphis) - Marial (From Maryland)
That is 14 guys.....in this day and age I could see 3 or 4 of these guys being gone by Christmas. -

You need extra depth to account for the transfer portal. Yes, we will probably lose some at some point, but it’s a numbers game with the portal.

I would much rather have too many talented players than not enough. Several are only part timers, some will sustain injuries. Things will work themselves out. BTW,was driving on campus Friday and ran into Marial...man...that kid is a long athlete.

"That is 14 guys.....in this day and age I could see 3 or 4 of these guys being gone by Christmas."
In the logic of today's coaching and today's recruiting: If the RIGHT 3 or 4 of these guys are gone by Christmas, no problem. For veterans of the game, like some of us, it seems harsh. In today's college basketball world of surplus talent and extra bodies, it's a different game altogether. GO BEAVS!!

Is Silva back? Saw tweet that said Alatishe and Calloo had withdrawn and going back to college. Didn’t mention Silva though.

Coach Tinkle has built this team through the portal to be strong on the defensive end. Rand,Alitisha, and Choi will be rim protectors. If we can play defense and not turn it over, osu can be in almost every game after this team finds its niche. Shooting can be inconsistent...defense travels well.

Two Beaver examples , in my mind ; Kat Tudor not starting, but coming in at critical times and stretches, to hit some needed three's and get the other women to get in the same flow. When she went down, we lost a real valuable asset as a 6th player . We also had Kennedy go down , and that cost us big in rebounding and assists.... The point here being that if you are starting with 11-12 bodies all of whom are expecting / used to starting - or used to big minutes , and you lose a couple at key positions ... your efficiency and skill sets are diminished. So , I prefer the 15 player route , which means you can recruit better at every position and be better covered in case of a long term injury. The mens team, last year , was very fortunate with injuries - and being able to nurse some less serious injuries in short spurts throughout the year . Lucas , at certain times, was far better off the bench than he was at starting - but, once he started playing 110%, on both ends of the Court , Tinkle had full confidence in wherever he needed him to contribute ! His timid on the Court and his contributions became more impactful over time . At the same time, Tinkle was able to get great minutes out of the guys off the bench - they ALL seemed to thrive in pressure situations . Sure, a couple of guys felt underutilized and moved on , but - it seems that we have backfilled those areas for this coming year , and , as pointed out, we can expect a couple of kids to move on ! If we get another 'run' and are lucky on injuries , the success should bring another 'leap year' in our recruiting efforts ! Go Beavers ... looking forward to more success and a return to the elite level !
