Your face is telling you to put the knife down and leave your nose alone, dude.
You sound as if you work for Nike. We're the band geek who is supposed to be satisfied getting a peck on the cheek from the cheerleader after school before she goes home to give the quarterback the full-meal deal that night. I'd just as soon find a new girl. What if the bank geek knows how to play the trumpet well and the Quarterback has a hard time playing the flute. What if the cheerleader just likes good music?

I'd just as soon find a new girl. I don't wanna be misogynistic and crude, but the reality of your analogy is our "new girl" will be the awkward band dork nobody wants to go out with and while willing, is all teeth, if you know what I mean... Nike is the largest sports apparel company in the world by a significant margin and basically own a full 1/3rd of the total market alone. They have a market capitalization of roughly $226 billion. More importantly, they are the single most popular apparel company for the 18 to 40 demographic (and still the #2 for 40 to 65). In a recent study of millennial/GenZ brand preference, Nike dominates. You don't need to be a Nike shill to know who you want to hitch your wagon up to. University of Oregon gets an average of $2.98 million per year from Nike lets call it $3 million, we get an average $2.7 million. No other school in the Pac-12 gets the same amount of money from Nike According to the Sports Business Journal, the 11 year Nike deal we signed in 2016 was the third best Apparel deal in the Pac-12 in terms of value and payments to the school. UW's deal with Adidas tops our deal, but that is about it. And UW has a significantly large market share to leverage in negotiation. If we look at our peer school, WSU, we are closer to Oregon in our Nike contract that WSU is to us in their Nike contract, one they signed after us, for less money ($2.3 million per year). Honestly, who is that new girl going to be? Under Armor? I have a very close friend that works for UA, which is sweet for me because I get a ton of free s%#t, but honestly, it is run by a tight nit pack for frat-bros whom are more or less incompetent buffoons (relatively speaking, they are worth billions). Reebox? this ain't 1985. Adidas? maybe. they are far bigger as a streetware company than an athletic apparel company. But they already have a monster deal with UW, do we have the leverage to break from Nike and come out ahead? Who is going to pay us $3 million a year to provide our apparel?

Nike's clout with UO will be in NIL money paid out to athletes, not money directly to the school in apparel fees. The deal with Kayvon - essentially a straight cash payment, because nobody thinks Tinker's stupid painting is worth anything - is just the start.
I doubt any other Pac-12 Nike school will reap anywhere near the NIL money from Nike than Oregon. We certainly won't. I expect every track, football and basketball player will receive some sort of payment before it's all over.
I did not realize our Nike deal went through 2027. So we'll continue to get shoes, etc.; they will continue to give UO shoes, pay their athletes, and let UO's coaches know that when recruiting they can promise signees significant NIL deals.
When it nears expiration, I still think it behooves us to investigate other options.

And they're going to be delving out all kinds of $$$ to our players. Also, Tillamook will be providing a bunch of cheddar to our players.

Too expensive. I had a client who, along with two friends, managed to steal over $10,000 worth of merchandise in about 5 minutes from a local lululemon store.

There is a precedent for this. Nike put us in the sports bra uni. FWIW, I have several (mens) shorts and a pair of slacks from LuLulemon, and they are fantastic. Comfortable, high quality, look good, never wrinkle, etc. they dont just have womens clothing! Also FWIW, growing up a KMart Kid (thanks mom!) I wore A LOT of russel athletic junk... I wouldn't wash my dog after a run in teh mud with a brand new anything from Russel

I've heard we've been approached by both Toughskins and Garanimals....but we're sticking with Nike.
