I see Reggie Bush wants his trophy back. Retro benefits, I guess I think he should get it back. Most exciting player I’ve ever seen. Really? I always had more fun watching this guy:

My aunt and uncle live in La Mesa, about three blocks from Helix High School where Bush played. His dad was a janitorial services tech (I’m NOT dissing janitors, ok…..), and the home they lived in when Reggie played at u$c was in an upper scale neighborhood of Spring Valley. THAT WAS one lucrative janitorial job! 😁

I’m honored to announce my first collaboration with Phil Knight — the Kayvon Thibodeaux Art piece, created by Tinker Hatfield, inspired by my success on the field.” And there it is... The rich are getting richer and the poor are going to get poorer.

"You play at Oregon, right? Here's your monthly check from Nike, just for being a Duck athlete."
When the company you use for athletic apparel starts straight-out paying your arch-rival's players, and by extension is promising similar payments to future recruits, it's past time to find a new apparel company. Why support a company that's actively working against you? A question other Nike schools in the Pac-12 would be well-served to ask themselves.

Oregon State wears their apparel, because Nike gives them the best deal. If it made sense (as in dollars and cents) to use someone else, Oregon State would.

It could very well become a zoo like the NBA is now. That is, the inmates run the asylum, because their brand IS bigger than the team's in some cases. Tebow might have been that at the collegiate level. What comes of that is bidding wars between programs, coaches getting fired by players, and small markets getting plucked of their franchise players in free agency. I'm honestly unsure that it plays out that much different for OSU with it all being now out in the open, but it will definitely change the dynamics amongst the 'haves'. It does seem like it will result in players like Cooks not staying through their career though; unless transfer rules grow some teeth, the smaller programs will become the NCAA developmental league. And it would be hard to blame any kid for chasing the money; they are always one bad injury from ending their earning potential in their sport well before any guaranteed professional contract.

Stop bringing hard evidence against the established narrative that Nike hates OSU! (this point keeps being brought up around here that OSU should get a different apparel provider, despite the fact that nobody is offering a better deal that Nike. I'm guessing some would rather us take less money to have a different brand on our uniform, even if if a significant hit to the athletic department's budget).

Others are simply saying it might be time to actually truly investigate what else is out there and possibly pursue another deal, since the company we do have is already starting to direct unprecedented resources to our arch-rival, giving them an even larger funding advantage than the considerable one they currently enjoy.

It's interesting that you are assuming that there has never been any kind of an effort to "truly investigate" any other deals. Or do you have proof that there has been an absolute lack of due diligence? The rest of your post about what they provide for Oregon is irrelevant. Unless somehow you are laboring under the illusion that another apparel company could or would match the support level that Nike gives to Oregon. Your face is telling you to put the knife down and leave your nose alone, dude.

You sound as if you work for Nike.
We're the band geek who is supposed to be satisfied getting a peck on the cheek from the cheerleader after school before she goes home to give the quarterback the full-meal deal that night.
I'd just as soon find a new girl.

Nike undoubtedly gives Oregon State top tier deals. They really do, and we are better for it. I just am not sure it is going to extend to the top designer in Nike history partnering with one of our players to put out custom, personalized memorabilia.
